Thank you very much for reading and commenting, fanomy! :-) Although I had most of the other characters making fun of Rodney's paranoia, I think an argument can be made for his fears. As you've pointed out, the NID might be quite happy to get their hands on the baby, though I don't know if she would have any real powers (beyond possessing the Ancient gene) if she hasn't ascended. Still, she might have an even stronger gene than Sheppard, and I suppose the NID could somehow force an ascension. In any case, it's certainly interesting to speculate on what could happen if the baby was kidnapped.
