Poor Lester! This part really brought home his helplessness and frustration with the entire situation.
I'm glad Lester's helplessness and frustration came through. I like to think that his situation really hit home in that moment in the woods.
I love the way he went up against the smilodon, and his shock when Danny outed them, and the way he was determined to get home was so poignant.
I was afraid that Lester going up against the smilodon might not seem in-character, which is one reason why I had Abby give that argument for his actions. Not that I don't think Lester would want to save Sarah if she were in danger, but I think he'd normally leave the job to the soldiers and only do something if there weren't any other options.
I had originally intended for Lester and Danny to be outed another way, but then my muse whispered in my ear and the plan changed. I think I like the muse version better, even if it is a little on the dramatic side. *g*
You'll learn more about why Lester was so determined to return home later in the story, if you haven't worked out the full reasons already.
I'm really looking forward to the next part.
I hope it won't disappoint! I have to confess that I'm a little nervous about it, though, thankfully, lukadreaming seemed to enjoy it...Anywaaaaaay, thank you for taking the time to read and review, fredbassett! Your continued support is very much appreciated! :-)
