OH. MY. GOD. Where do you come up with this stuff?--how do you get that many hilarious lines---plus a freakishly hot, while also freakishly funny sex scene--into one fic?

That's very kind of you to say, [livejournal.com profile] blooms84. :-) I have to confess that a lot of the parody wrote itself. Okay, there was some historical research involved, but, even then, some of the information ended up working to my advantage. I'm not sure how the sex scene managed to be freakishly hot and freakishly funny. While I've managed to incorporate some humour into sex scenes before, I think this level of humour was a first for me. *g*

I'm totally in awe of this one--as I usually am with your parodies. I just love your brain.

That's a huge compliment considering your own talent for comedy -- and writing in general, of course. :-D

So I had never seen Charles II until a couple of days ago--thought I at least needed to watch a couple eps before diving into this so I knew who the characters were--found it all on youtube--so now I can picture everyone!

I'm sorry. I hadn't realized that you hadn't seen it. I would have told you to hold off reading this until you had watched it, though you seem to have done just fine with what you did get to see. :-)

The whole repetition of the embroidery, just killed me. You often have this great Monty Pythonesque silliness going in your fics, but at the same time--and this is the hard part--really sweet touches, where the characters are not just comical, but also have a lovely bit of reality to them.

I'm so moved by your kind words that I almost don't know what to say except THANK YOU. :-D I'm definitely a Python girl at heart, so I think that brand of Pythonesque silliness works its way into a lot of things I write. All the same, I'm happy that you do feel there's some reality to the characters in question.

And this was no exception--so I loved the characterization of both Bucky and Shaftsy. Just --down to the facial expressions.

Oh, awesome! Those were the characters I most wanted to get right! I'm so glad you liked the way they were characterized! :-)

Sidenote: I need a t-shirt that says "I don't understand what you said, but I'm deeply offended."

Ooooh! I've never had anyone say they'd like to use one of my lines on a t-shirt before! That's wicked awesome! :-D Well, I'm happy you liked that particular line. I think you're the first person to comment on it.

The whole exchange around Monmouth and the two kings was delightful. But oh my lord--the sheep/Scotsman/Baaa . . . I just . . . I don't even know what to say, it was so hilarious.

The sheep/Scotsman/Baaa section seems to be a favourite with just about everyone so far. I keep waiting for someone to be offended, but I guess sheep jokes have been around long enough for people to see the humour in them. *g* In any case, I'm happy it gave you a laugh.

This is your forte, my dear. I loved the Maurice story, as you know very well. And your RWAV fic totally inspired me to write a pond-centric fic--but this--good lord, it's over the top brilliant parody. Which, imho, is extremely hard to do. So my hat's off and I can't wait 'til you get another little burst of inspiration. *facepalm* I gotta go read the end of this again. <3<3<3

You're being much too generous, but thank you. It means a lot. I'm not sure why, but I don't seem to struggle as much with parody. I wasn't kidding when I said that a lot of this story wrote itself. Lines often popped into my head, and I had to scramble to write them down. Maybe I was exposed to things like Monty Python at too young an age. I practically grew up on comedy (especially Britcoms), so maybe that's why it comes fairly naturally to me at times. Of course, as I mentioned earlier, you do have an incredible gift for humour, which makes your generous feedback even more meaningful. :-D
