Hocus Pocus!: Ollivander's Wand Meme

Wood type: olive
Length: 11½ inches
Core: Dragon Heartstring

get your own wand!

I know no one's going to care about this except me, but having a wand made out of olive wood means this about me:

Olive wands tend to choose the witch or wizard who possess above average intelligence, not to mention often an overactive imagination. Olive wands are also a favorite of healers and are especially good not only for healing but also for protective spells. Many believe the bearers of Olive wands to be good at decision making - but this is not necessarily so. The owner of an olive wand may be decisive but that does not mean their decisions are the right ones. On the other side of the coin they may be so busy worrying about what is right that they are unable to ever reach a conclusion.

Olive's personality is peaceful

Yeah, okay, the only accurate part about that description was the "overactive imagination," but still...Hey, the description of the Dragon Heartstring sounds a bit more accurate:

Wands with Dragon Heartstring cores are excellent for hexes, or for dueling, not to mention fire magic. They tend to choose a witch or wizard who is strong not only physically, but also emotionally, and who usually has very strong opinions on things, though they often tend to be strong willed and thickheaded as well.

I'm totally strong emotionally (if by strong emotionally they mean over-emotional) and I'm definitely strong-willed (e.g. stubborn) and thickheaded (e.g. still stubborn).

Hey! Amazing! We have the same wand. Let's hope we don't duel each other. It could turn out like Harry and Voldemort. LOL.

Oh, cool! I thought the wand seemed familiar -- now I know why! Please don't take this the wrong way, but you wouldn't happen to be a Taurus too, would you? *g*

Well, I certainly hope that we don't end up duelling each other if it ends up being a Harry vs. Voldemart death match! Maybe we can both manage to resist the Dark Side of the Wand...

Nope. Not a Taurus. I'm opposite Taurus: Scorpio.

And I plan to resist the Dark Side of the Wand. My Mom sometimes calls me Hermione, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

I'd forgotten that Scorpio is the opposite of Taurus. That explains a lot about me and my brother. *g*

Oh, if you're Hermione-like, you should be okay. I have Hermione moments, but I think I identify more strongly with characters like Neville and Luna (e.g. the oddballs). Snape is actually my favourite character, but I have the feeling that I'd probably be sorted into Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin.

Oh, my Mom only calls me Hermione because I'm a know-it-all. I identify more with Professor Trelawny. One brilliant insight and then nothing except being considered absolutely batty by everyone. I was sorted into Gryffindor. Twice.

I must say that Snape is one of JK's best characters. He was so hard to nail down. She made him look bad; but there were enough clues that his turning out good made sense. And Alan Rickman was the very best actor to play him. Couldn't have chosen better.

Well, my "Hermione" moments consist of being a know-it-all too. *g* And, yes, I think the Trelawny description also works for me. Once in a blue moon, I have a brilliant insight, but most of the time I just seem weird and insane.

I guess it isn't a surprise that Snape is my favourite character considering that Alan Rickman plays him, though I did read the first four books before seeing any of the movies, so I'd like to argue that it's as much about the writing as Alan Rickman. I would have said it was more about the writing, but I knew Alan Rickman would be playing the role when I first started reading the books, so I pictured him as Snape from the very beginning. Anywaaaay, J.K. really couldn't have chosen a better actor for the role.

Dear Rusty Armour
I now live in Toronto and require geek friends.
Love always, Losyark.
PS - More "Family Way" please!

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] losyark! I'm planning to finish the rough draft of the sixth installment this weekend. Hopefully, I can post it by Thursday night or Friday. Sorry it's taken so long. Uh...I really don't have any excuses that don't sound lame. *g*

[identity profile] rusty-armour.livejournal.com 2007-09-12 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi again, [livejournal.com profile] losyark! It looks like I might not be posting the next installment until Saturday or Sunday as I'm still working on the rough draft. I'm hoping to finish it tonight, but I'd still like to spend an extra day or two on the revision. Anyway, I just thought you should know.

Welcome back to Toronto btw! :-) I'm sorry I neglected to say that in my previous comment!

Aw. *sniff* Well, I can wait! What I really wanted was to say that I was in town now, and inquire as to whether you knew a group of people / have RL fannish friends, etc. that I can leech on. 'Cause, you know, you're cool.

No one here is a GEEK. *pathetic sniffle*

Also, doing NaNo?

As it so happens, I recently joined a group of Toronto geeks. I've only been to one get together so far (dinner and a movie), but the ladies I met were friendly and nice. I emailed the woman who started the group and she says the get togethers are open to anyone who's interested. She also told me that I should give you her email address (mailto:storm_haven@hotmail.com) so you could contact her for more information.

BTW I'm afraid I'm anything but cool. I'm sure even my closest friends would disagree with that adjective! *g* Still, it's sweet of you to think so. Thanks. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet in person and you can judge for yourself. :-)

Also, doing NaNo?

No, I'm afraid not, though I know someone on my flist is. I assume you're planning to participate.

Are too cool. You can really WRITE. I may do NaNo, depending on how heavy my coursework turns out to be. I have my first class today. I'll email this other person soonish, thank you!
