I NEVER Thought *This* Would Happen!

I NEVER thought this would happen, but three of my stories (A Private View, Buckingham & Shaftesbury: The Schemes and the Theatrics and The Boathouse (particularly The Boathouse)) were mentioned in an academic paper called Heritage Film Audiences 2.0: Period Film Audiences and Online Film Cultures. For anyone who's curious, the relevant material can be found in pages 36-37 of the pdf document. Some other very worthy works are also analyzed, including [livejournal.com profile] fengirl88's The Bad Old Songs (on pages 37-38 of the pdf document).

I have to confess that I howled when I read what Dr. Monk wrote about The Boathouse -- mostly due to sheer shock and joy and not because I disagreed with what she wrote. *g*

CONGRATULATIONS!

And I'm looking forward to your reaction to this evening's Sherlock! I thought it was fab, very discombobulating!

I am so excited for you! Well deserved!

HOLY SHIT.

*collapses in a heap*

I just burst out laughing at 1 a.m. in my kitchen because the author quoted this exchange of yours:

‘The pastor said I was the most beautiful bride
he’d ever seen’ – ‘Alec, the pastor was blind’

*applauds you and squees*

Congratulations! Recognition in an academic paper is amazing. You deserve it.

I've just skipped through the article to the relevant parts because my brain's not up to reading anything academic right now, but I'll try to read it more critically soon.

Well, it's about time someone recognized your talent. Congratulations.

OMG! Squee! You got recognized by academia. How cool is that?

Seriously, you have an amazing talent and it is wonderful that you've been called out for it. "The Boathouse" was a vivid enough piece of storytelling that it was compelling without my having any idea of the original material.

Edited to add: Stop blushing. You know it's true. Just run with it.

Oh my god! That is so so awesome! Personally, I only ever quoted my favourite works when I was writing academic stuff :) I imagine other academics probably really enjoyed the quotes! I know my committee always did. I'm on page 20 of the PDF (of course I read page 36-37 first), but I really felt like I needed more context to properly appreciate her discuss of your contribution. Hem hem. Now I'm going to have to actually watch the film!

Sorry I haven't commented on any of your Sherlock reviews. I've been avoiding spoilers. I still haven't managed to watch any of the episodes yet. My cold came back and I've just been dragging myself to work and back. I will never be well again! Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. I'm actually starting to recover.

Congratulations! That's pretty cool that you got mentioned in an academic paper.
What a terrible life she must lead. Having to read fanfic for school. ;)
