I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to [personal profile] raven714 for gifting me an AI-generated song that was inspired by the Sanctuary Series. [personal profile] raven714 wrote the lyrics herself and then chose other features for the song. Anyway, whether you've read (or choose to read) the Sanctuary Series or not, you should totally check out this song because it's fabulous!

Naturally, I LOVE this song, and I'm both touched and honoured that [personal profile] raven714 took the time to create it for me. :-D

I've been doing a bit of housekeeping and finally updated my Fic Masterlist. Okay, there were just the four stories to add, but that's almost prolific for me, especially as three out of four stories were posted this year. Although I suspect (understandably) that I'm the only person who ever goes to my Fic Masterlist (and, even then, that doesn't happen very often), I thought I'd share the new additions here in case anyone might be interested: Fic under the cut. )

I'm not sure what it is that Russian people like about my fanfic, but I was asked a few days ago if I would allow Diogenes to be translated into Russian for a fandom competition called WTF Mystrade 2022. Naturally, I was flattered and agreed. However, I wasn't expecting the translation to be completed so quickly! I'd assumed that the competition was at least a couple of months away. Anyway, the Russian translation has now been posted on AO3 in all its glory:

I hope the translation does well in the competition. It looks like it's up against five other stories, though others may still be added.

Title: Sanctuary
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley, Robert of Huntingdon
Category: General
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 20,555
Summary: Loxley and Gisburne gain a new ally as they find themselves facing the Knights of the Apocalypse again. However, they may also have to confront an even more dangerous enemy.
Spoilers: Some spoilers for and/or references to “Robin Hood and the Sorcerer,” “The Witch of Elsdon,” “The Children of Israel,” “The Enchantment,” “The Greatest Enemy,” “Herne’s Son,” “The Power of Albion,” “The Cross of St. Ciricus,” “Rutterkin” and The Knights of the Apocalypse.
Notes: This is a sequel to Melisende and the final story in this series. This is basically my COVID-19 fic. It’s helped keep me sane and occupied during this awful time. I’ll admit that the story is self-indulgent and somewhat over the top. I also had a bit too much fun writing it. *g* I’m sure this goes without saying, but this fic probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read the previous stories in the Sanctuary series.

As you may have noticed, this series has the same name as Sanctuary, the Spiteful Puppet audio adventure and the Chinbeard Books novelization by Paul Birch. Well, now I’ve gone and used the same title for this story. *g* In my defence, I came up with the title for this series just before the audio adventure was released, so it was by no means intentional. I tried to come up with another title for this last story in the series, but nothing else seemed to work. For three out of four of the fic series that I’ve written, the last story has had the same title as the series – usually because I ended up naming the series after the last story. In this case, I think I always knew that the last story would be called “Sanctuary”. I was just never sure if I would get around to writing it! Anywaaaaaaay, I’ll never be competition for either Spiteful Puppet or Chinbeard Books, so posting a story with the same title as one of their properties isn’t going to cause any harm.

There’s some French spoken in this story. I’ve provided footnotes for any French that isn’t entirely clear from the context. The English translations are included in the scenes containing footnotes.

This takes place after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Disclaimer: This story is based on Richard Carpenter's series Robin of Sherwood. The characters are the property of Richard Carpenter, Robin May, Anthony Horowitz and the RoS production team. This is also based on “The Knights of the Apocalypse” audio adventure, which was based on an original script by Richard Carpenter, directed by Robert Young and produced by Barnaby Eaton-Jones, not to mention the novel written by Jonathan Green.

Title: Melisende
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley
Category: General
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 2,204
Summary: A lovelorn Melisende receives solace from an unlikely confidant.
Spoilers: Some mild spoilers for and/or references to “Robin Hood and the Sorcerer,” “Alan a Dale,” “The Children of Israel,” “The Greatest Enemy,” “The Cross of St. Ciricus” and The Knights of the Apocalypse.
Notes: This is a sequel to Guivre and a birthday fic for [personal profile] raven714. I had originally intended to go straight to the final story in the series, but then I thought that it might be nice to have some closure after Guivre. I’m sure this goes without saying, but this fic probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read the first four stories in the Sanctuary series.

There’s some French spoken in this story. I’ve provided footnotes for any French that isn’t entirely clear from the context. The English translations are at the end of the scene containing these footnotes.

This takes place after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Disclaimer: This story is based on Richard Carpenter's series Robin of Sherwood. The characters are the property of Richard Carpenter, Robin May, Anthony Horowitz and the RoS production team. Title: Guivre
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley
Category: General
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 8,257
Summary: While living and working on a farm in Poitou, Loxley and Gisburne encounter the legend of Melusine and have a strange adventure in the woods.
Spoilers: Some spoilers for the series in general and The Knights of the Apocalypse.
Notes: This is a sequel to Many More Miles and an extremely late birthday present for [personal profile] grondfic. It’s so late, in fact, that it’s more of a Christmas present than a birthday present. *g* Anywaaaaaaaay, this fic probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read the first three stories in the Sanctuary series.

I should probably point out that there’s a fair amount of French spoken in this story. I’ve provided footnotes for any French that isn’t entirely clear from the context. The English translations are at the end of each scene containing such footnotes.

This takes place after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Disclaimer: This story is based on Richard Carpenter's series Robin of Sherwood. The characters are the property of Richard Carpenter, Robin May, Anthony Horowitz and the RoS production team. Title: Many More Miles
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley
Category: General
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 4,153
Summary: Loxley struggles to find purpose in his new life and to understand just who he and Gisburne are anymore.
Spoilers: Some spoilers for “Seven Poor Knights from Acre,” “Alan a Dale,” “Herne’s Son,” “The Sheriff of Nottingham,” “The Cross of St. Ciricus,” and The Knights of the Apocalypse.
Notes: This is a sequel to Dissolution and a late birthday present for [personal profile] raven714. This probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read the first two stories in the Sanctuary series.

This takes place after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Disclaimer: This story is based on Richard Carpenter's series Robin of Sherwood. The characters are the property of Richard Carpenter, Robin May, Anthony Horowitz and the RoS production team. Many More Miles )

Originally, I had only intended to read the prompts and fills from Obscure & British Commentfest 2018, but then I found a Robin of Sherwood prompt that was tempting and ended up writing Neither Fish Nor Flesh. I had a lot of fun working on that, so I thought I’d take a stab at a Maurice prompt and wrote Silver Strands. By that point, the whole process had become rather addictive, so I spent Victoria Day filling in my own Persuaders prompt with What Is There About Your Face That Causes So Much Trouble?.

I’m going to step away now. With any luck, I won’t come across any other enticing prompts. I certainly won’t post any more of my own. I don’t often write short works (e.g. fic under 1500 words), but I can definitely understand the appeal. It’s great to be able to write and post a story on the same day – or even in the space of a few days. As a reader, I still prefer longer works. That isn’t to say that I haven’t read some excellent shorter works, but, on the whole, I find longer stories more satisfying. It’s nice to have something you can really sink your teeth into. The problem I have with shorter works is that I often find myself wishing the story could continue. I guess that’s not always a bad thing. After all, they say you should leave your audience wanting more. Unfortunately, I don't think I've succeeded in following that adage with my fic fills! *g*

Title: Dissolution (2/2)
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley
Category: Gen, post-ep
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 10,663
Summary: Herne’s mission proves challenging on a physical and emotional level for not only Gisburne, but Loxley as well.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for The Knights of the Apocalypse and references made to “Seven Poor Knights from Acre,” “The Greatest Enemy,” and “The Time of the Wolf.”
Notes: This is a sequel to Thrall and started off as a Christmas present for [personal profile] raven714. It probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read Thrall as it takes place directly after it and deals with the events of that story. Obviously, this second installment has come quite a bit after Christmas, so I apologize for that. I had hoped to post it in February (at the latest), but my two night courses have been keeping me pretty busy. I also apologize for any inaccuracies that crop up in the scenes taking place at the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel. I’ve never been fortunate enough to visit the place, so I’ve had to rely on photos, descriptions, and maps of the layout that were often confusing because they weren’t very detailed or included new sections of the abbey (such as the Merveille) that didn’t exist in the early thirteenth century. If you’re familiar with the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel and come across any glaring errors, could you please let me know? Then, if possible, I will try to fix them.

This takes place shortly after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley
Category: Gen, post-ep
Rating: PG-13ish
Word Count: 5,637
Summary: Herne’s mission proves challenging on a physical and emotional level for not only Gisburne, but Loxley as well.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for The Knights of the Apocalypse and references made to “Seven Poor Knights from Acre,” “The Greatest Enemy,” and “The Time of the Wolf.”

It probably won’t make much sense if you haven’t read Thrall as it takes place directly after it and deals with the events of that story. Title: Thrall
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Pairing: Guy of Gisburne/Robin of Loxley; Guy of Gisburne/Baphomet
Characters: Guy of Gisburne, Robin of Loxley, Herne the Hunter, Baphomet
Category: Slash, rape/non-con, post-ep
Rating: NC-17
Warning: This story contains non-consensual sexual acts and dark themes.
Word Count: 5,752
Summary: Gisburne survives the battle at the preceptory only to realize that death might have been a better alternative.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for The Knights of the Apocalypse and references made to “The Witch of Elsdon,” “Alan A Dale,” “Lord of the Trees,” “The Enchantment,” and “The Greatest Enemy.”
Notes: This is the IOU Gisburne/Loxley fic that I finally finished writing for [personal profile] raven714’s birthday. It’s a very belated present. *g* I don’t think this is what [personal profile] raven714 was expecting, and I apologize for that. I often get carried away when writing fic, but this story is much darker, twisted, and kinkier than I’d anticipated. Please read the rating and warning carefully if you haven’t done so already. There may be readers who hate this story or find it offensive. I would just like to remind those readers that this is fanfic, not canon. You don’t have to accept the story.

I should definitely give credit where credit is due. When writing a certain scene, I was very much inspired by [personal profile] fredbassett’s Dark and Dirty (which is part of her Primeval Stephen/Ryan series). Anyone who’s read Dark and Dirty will know the scene when they come across it. *g*

This takes place shortly after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Title: The Earl’s Son (2/2)
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Robin of Sherwood
Characters: Robert of Huntingdon, Nasir, Edward of Wickham, Alison of Wickham, Matthew of Wickham
Category: General, drama, post-eppy
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,622
Summary: Robin has a revelation about his father and is forced to confront the emotions he’s been trying to suppress.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for The Knights of the Apocalypse, “The Sheriff of Nottingham” and “The Time of the Wolf”. Otherwise, there are just spoilers for the series in general.
Notes: I wrote this for [personal profile] karen9’s birthday. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with Robin’s view of his relationship with his father in “The Knights of the Apocalypse,” so I decided to explore this subject. I thought I’d have a better picture of the Huntingdon father/son relationship by the end of this story, but I just came away with more questions. I don’t think there are any clear answers. This story is just one interpretation – an interpretation based on pure supposition.

This takes place shortly after The Knights of the Apocalypse.

Disclaimer: This story is based on Richard Carpenter's series Robin of Sherwood. The characters are the property of Richard Carpenter, Robin May, Anthony Horowitz and the RoS production team. Characters: Robert of Huntingdon, Nasir, Edward of Wickham, Alison of Wickham, Matthew of Wickham
Category: General, drama, post-eppy
Rating: PG
Word Count: 853
Summary: Robin has a revelation about his father and is forced to confront the emotions he’s been trying to suppress.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for The Knights of the Apocalypse, “The Sheriff of Nottingham” and “The Time of the Wolf”. Otherwise, there are just spoilers for the series in general.
Notes: I wrote this for [personal profile] karen9’s birthday. I had intended to post the whole story on this special occasion, but I just ran out of time. While most of the fic has been written, the remaining scenes are a bit rough and I’d like to have a bit more time to revise them. I’m aiming to post the conclusion by next weekend. I’m hoping it will be worth the wait.

Title: The Final Resolution
Author: Rusty Armour
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Sherlock, John, Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, Mycroft, Molly, Mary (sort of), Moriarty (sort of)
Category: Parody, Humour, Slash (mild Mystrade)
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 3,280
Summary: When Sherlock notices that his world is starting to unravel, he questions the very fabric of reality.
Spoilers: Definite spoilers for “The Final Problem,” not to mention “His Last Vow,” “The Six Thatchers” and “The Lying Detective”. Some more general spoilers for the series as a whole.
Notes: It seems strange to write a 3,000 + word fic revolving around “The Final Problem” when I refused to waste even a minute writing an episode review. However, the parody!muse just wouldn’t leave me alone, so I had to write this. I guess it was my way of coming to terms with “The Final Problem”. Parts of this ended up being more serious than I intended, but I think these moments contribute to the overall theme of the story – as pretentious as that may sound. If you enjoyed “The Final Problem” (and the fourth series in general), you probably shouldn’t read this fic. *g*

I wrote this in two days and didn’t have a beta. Apologies if it shows.

I've now changed the title of this story slightly because a reader pointed out that the phrase "the final solution" has terrible historical associations with it. I should have been more sensitive when I was considering this story's title and I apologize for any unintentional offence that I might have caused.

Disclaimer: With great power comes great responsibility. Thankfully, I have neither. Sherlock and its characters are owned by other people, though I feel fortunate to have been allowed to play in this wonderful sandbox.
