Union Station was closed for several hours yesterday because of flooding. I have to admit that my main concern was getting home last night, which wasn't really a concern because I already had at least two or three different options. In other words, I wasn't terribly worried about poor Union Station. However, I realized the full gravity of the situation today when certain pictures came to light.

Uh...I might call in sick on Monday.

With Bruce the Great White hanging out there, I can't blame you if you call in sick. :)

To be honest, I'm more worried about the Kool-Aid mascot. ;-)

Yes, that man in the picture was trembling so hard, he's blurry. The shark is certainly a concern -- almost as big a concern as the Kool-Aid mascot.

Very grave indeed...especially with the colour of the Koolaid guy's urine. He should see a doctor about that.

That is the only picture I've seen that incorporated both the water and sewage that flooded Union station.

I find Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet by far the most terrifying thing in those images. Being trapped for three hours in a flooded Union Station is a much more preferable scenario to being trapped in a darkened cinema watching Titanic.

LOL! Yeah, that can't be healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd caught some disease after travelling on the TTC. *g*

LOLOLOL! You're terrible! Funny as hell but terrible! *g*

Okay, just for you, here's a uniquely Canadian moment from the Union Station flood:

Good point! It would definitely be more terrifying to be trapped in a darkened cinema watching Titanic, though spending any time on the TTC is a rather harrowing experience...All the same, I'm amazed I survived Titanic the one time. I'd rather not take that chance again. *g*

It's hard to get more Canadian than that, unless... *Looks around carefully* Coo-woo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coooo! Coo-woo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-cooooooo!

Nah. The Log Drivers' Waltz is even more classic than that.

That is some amazing rain you've had there.

Hope that you made it safely home and can get safely to work if you choose to go on Monday. Just watch out for that guy in the second photo. He might want to draw you. ;)

I think the first one really speaks to the gravity of the situation. At this point I think most people would take the shark over Ford. It would explain why the TTC worker is so unconcerned, once you've seen the ultimate horror... Still, I have to agree about the Kool-Aid dude. Your boss would understand.

That is some amazing rain you've had there.

I think it was pretty unusual for Toronto. I mean, it can rain pretty hard here, but it usually only lasts for short bursts if it's that intense. On Friday, it rained hard for a really long time, which apparently caused the sewer system to overflow, though I read somewhere that it was actually a broken main that caused the problem and it had nothing to do with the rain. Well, whatever happened, it was a big problem for Union Station.

Hope that you made it safely home and can get safely to work if you choose to go on Monday.

The journey home on Friday went surprisingly well. And I'll be going into work on Monday unless all of my transit options are eliminated. *g*

Just watch out for that guy in the second photo. He might want to draw you. ;)

I think he could probably find much better models, but I'll be careful just in case. ;-)

Oh, God! You're right! I completely forgot about that! And I usually keep my back pressed to the wall as I'm paranoid about being pushed on the track. Well, unless Kool-Aid guy is targeting other subway stations, I should be okay. I usually just pass through Union Station on the train -- and that's often just on the way home. In terms of the work commute, I don't actually need to leave the train most of the time. The only reason the flooding was a problem (for me) was because service was shut down along several other stations as well.

I think you're absolutely right! Most people would take the shark over Ford, which totally explains why that TTC worker seems so unconcerned about the shark. Still, I'm glad you agree with me about Kool-Aid guy. I think we would have seen that TTC worker running if he'd come face to face with that. *g*

Yes, I would have enjoyed the movie more if they had focused strictly on the disaster itself -- with a bit of the human element as well, of course. It's a shame because I think the production values and special effects were pretty damn amazing.

Well, I originally posted this on Saturday night when most people probably had better things to do. *g*

I'm glad you had other options to get home and weren't caught there.

Fortunately, I heard about the flooding hours before I left work. And, yes, I'm happy to say that I did have other options to get home and could stay well away from Union Station.

The pics are funny!

I'm glad you got a kick out of them! :-)
