You're a Bond fan and/or a Daniel Craig fan? I had no idea.

Well, naturally, I don't expect everyone to agree with my thoughts on the latest Bond, but

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

pretty much sums up how I feel about the film. ;-)

I guess you learn sommat new every day. *g* Yes, I'm a huge Bond fan -- and have been since about the age of 12. My favourite bond is Roger Moore, but I do think Daniel Craig is wonderful in the role. I think Bond (for me at least) is a bit like Doctor Who. Often your first one is your favourite. :-)

I'm happy you agree! :-D I have to admit that I'm still processing what I saw -- and probably will be for the next few days -- but the film did blow me away.

I haven't seen the movie myself yet but heard it got raving reviews. So... you're not the only one, apparently! :)

The only thing that I didn't like, was the fact that they went and blew up that gorgeous house, and the car too! ;)

GO SEE IT! NOW!

It's worth it for the opening alone, which may very well be the best Bond opening I've ever seen. I'm still debating whether I think it's the best Bond film I've ever seen, but I think it's definitely worth seeing, especially if you're a Bond fan.

Yeah, that was pretty heart-breaking. I mean, I had a horrible feeling that the house would get it considering that it's a Bond film, but the car was unexpected. Still, the scene with the car was kinda worth it for Bond's face. That earned a big laugh from me.

Well, I'm glad that you enjoyed Skyfall so much!
I'm not keen on Bond, but if I have to watch one, Roger Moore is definitely the best.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you liked it! I hear it was surprising. Someone described it as a film about a 77 year old woman rather than Bond which sounds amazing!

I saw it with my Dad and one of my Bro's last week. We all came out saying we liked it but didn't love it, but would give it a solid 7.5-8/10.

I loved the first half of the film more and thought the cinematography was stunning. Actually my fave part of the film was the opening graphics/song. I thought the Bond girl was pointless to the story.

Glad you loved it :)

Thanks! And, yes, there were definitely some surprises in the film... ;-)

LOL! Actually, that's a pretty accurate description! It was very much about a 77-year-old woman! Well...I'm not sure how old M is supposed to be. It's Judi Dench that's 77. *g*

I wouldn't say it was my favourite Bond film, but I still thought it was excellent. Like you, I enjoyed the first half of the film more and thought the opening (especially the graphics/song) was outstanding! :-D

I wouldn't say Sévérine was pointless. She was very much the classic bad Bond girl. Bond convinces her to betray her lover (the Bond villain) and she suffers for it. I do think Sévérine could have been given more screen time and it would have been nice if her character could have been developed more.

You might not agree with me, but I think M was the main Bond girl in the film. I only just realized that today. At first, I wondered if it was supposed to be Eve, but I think M fits the pattern more.

I hope you enjoy it, [livejournal.com profile] anitamaid! I'd be very surprised if you didn't, especially if you like Daniel Craig as Bond. While I was impressed with his performance in the first two films, I think he's even better in Skyfall. :-)

Ooooh! Thanks again! :-) I've just started reading this and I'm really liking it so far. In fact, it's the perfect choice because I read another fic by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch last night that I thoroughly enjoyed:

BTW, I was stumped by one cultural reference (Haribo) and had to look it up. Once I saw that it was the name of a candy company, it came back to me. However, I'm sure there will be some terms and/or Brit references that will go over my head.

I finally got to see this one, and I loved it! My parents in law don't like DC as Bond that much, but I love him as a Bond for the 21st century. And I loved how much of the movie was about "M" and her relationship with her agents.

And, never realized until this movie where the "Q" comes from. I like having a younger Q (and the pairing name of 00Q is brilliant!)

During the movie, when Silva says to Bond "There's always a first time", and Bond replies with "What makes you think this is my first time?" Seth was nudging me. Got him well trained now.

I finally got to see this one, and I loved it!

Awesome! I'm happy you loved the film! :-)

My parents in law don't like DC as Bond that much, but I love him as a Bond for the 21st century.

Roger Moore is always going to be my favourite Bond (for sentimental reasons), but I think DC is excellent in the role. As you say, he's a Bond for the 21st century. Actually, he's become my dad's favourite Bond when my dad used to say that Sean Connery was the real James Bond.

And I loved how much of the movie was about "M" and her relationship with her agents.

I think that was one of the best things about the movie. M is so often portrayed as this rather emotionless figurehead. However, they really strip back the layers here and show what makes M tick. I think you really get a sense of what kind of person it takes to make the kind of tough decisions someone in her position has to make. I also think it's great that you see the toll espionage has on agents -- emotionally as well as physically. Bond felt genuinely betrayed when M ordered that kill shot.

And, never realized until this movie where the "Q" comes from.

I'm ashamed to say that if I knew the origin, I'd forgotten it. Makes sense, though.

I like having a younger Q (and the pairing name of 00Q is brilliant!)

It reminds me a bit of the younger Moriarty in Sherlock because I think it's often the younger generation who are the most knowledgable when it comes to the latest tech. So many things are done through computers now when the older Bond films relied a lot more on the physical aspects of design and engineering. I also like the age reversal with Bond being older for once. The Desmond Llewellyn Q was often telling 007 to grow up. *g*

As you probably saw in the comments, I've started getting into 00Q (which is a brilliant name). I keep finding myself looking for 00Q fic on AO3. Fortunately, there's a lot of it. :-)

During the movie, when Silva says to Bond "There's always a first time", and Bond replies with "What makes you think this is my first time?" Seth was nudging me. Got him well trained now.

LOL! You do have Seth well-trained! *g* And that was a wonderful moment! I think it made every slash fan's day!
