[profile] dubghall kindly sent me this article on Enterprise last week and I'm finally getting around to sharing it with my flist...Well, those two or three people who are actually Enterprise fans. Come on. I know there's at least a couple of you and it's not like I'm looking for a show of hands. *g* Actually, I would recommend this article to those of you who aren't fans as well because Dan Roth provides some good arguments for why he thinks a) Enterprise didn't kill Trek; b) why the show wasn't so bad; and c) why Enterprise was basically doomed from the start.

While this article is great, I think Roth should have included this clip when addressing the show's selling points:

The Reed/Hayes fight is what got me to write slash for the very first time. The moment I saw this fight (and then re-watched it several times), I had to slash these two. Resistance was, like, totally futile. *g*

Interesting article. I have to admit that I really hated the series. I tried, I really did. I rented the first couple of episodes and forced myself through them but there was just so much that annoyed me that I couldn't continue.

About slash - I had some slash moments much earlier, when I was maybe 13-15, back when I didn't know that either fan fiction or slash existed, but nothing ever came of that. My original writing began as soon as I could write - when I was about five or so. My fan fiction (and slash) writing days began with Star Trek the Next Generation and Voyager, the X files and Robin of Sherwood, several years later.

When I was little, I didn't feel I was any good at all at drawing and painting, though I enjoyed doing it anyway. My writing at the age of five was really basic. I don't have any of it saved, but I do know it was heavily influenced by Enid Blyton's Five books. LOL. The main characters were always a couple of boys, because as everyone knew, they were the ones who got to have the most fun. :/ There was also a 'token female' because I felt it was unfair that the story wouldn't be about a girl at all, even if she was boring.
