I grew up in Ottawa, but now I live in saskatchewan. I keep calling teh grocery store Loblaws, and NO ONE HERE KNOWS WHAT IT IS. Everyone goes to Safeway or Extra Foods/Superstore - who are owned by Loblaws, but apparently no one outside Ontario actually has stores called Loblaws.

That's interesting! I hadn't realized that Loblaws was mostly an Ontario phenomenon. I know there are quite a few of them in the Toronto area and I'm guessing the same goes for Ottawa.

I also call our power bill the Hydro bill... and again, no one here knows what I mean. I guess out here we don't really use as much hydroelectric power, or else we just don't have "hydro" in the name of the power plants...

I'm the same. I would also refer to a power bill as being a "hydro" bill -- and so does everyone else I know in Southern Ontario. I don't know about other provinces, but I'm guessing that Ontario is possibly the one that is most reliant on hydro power.
