Well, perhaps "tragedy" is wording it a bit too strongly. The term "trauma" or "mishap" might be more accurate. Any way you put it, there was definitely mauling involved. I should have seen it coming when I heard a bell ringing around 7:00 on Easter morning (after the first delivery from the Easter Bunny) and caught the "perp" playing with my sister's white chocolate bunny. I foolishly thought the bunnies were safe when I no longer heard any bells ringing and I went back to sleep. Then, around 8:30 (after the second delivery from the Easter Bunny), my mom discovered something horrifying: her cat was chewing on the white chocolate bunny's ear!

On closer inspection, my mom discovered that Minerva had chewed on the ears
of most of the chocolate bunnies, including my larger dark chocolate bunny!

In an attempt to prevent further damage, my mom cleverly covered all the bunnies with napkins. As my
sense of humour is dark, sick and twisted, I immediately began referring to them as the Ku Klux Klan Bunnies.

Of course, Minerva was back on the table in no time, effortlessly plucking the
napkins off the bunnies. That's when we asked Hamish to step in and guard the table.

Although my family has now had more than a day to recover from this senseless crime, the
shock hasn't quite worn off. When I tried to interview my brother, he refused to comment.

And then he became hostile...

Minerva (the Bunny Mutilator) doesn't appear to be experiencing one iota of guilt or remorse. In fact, shortly after disfiguring the chocolate bunnies, she was pampering herself with a nice long wash on the carpet.

I wish there was a way to help the bunnies through the nightmare that was Easter morning, but I fear there is nothing that can be done for them. Tonight, I'm going to have to find it in my heart to put my own large dark chocolate bunny out of its misery...

Euthanize those bunnies before they suffer any more. How you "dispose" of the bodies is up to you. lol

OMG! Thanks for making me laugh, I needed that! And by all means, put that bunny out of its misery! LOL

LOL!

As punishment, you could make Minerva wear bunny ears. Y'know, just to encourage her to have more empathy in future.

Well, I'm happy to say that at least one of the bunnies has been euthanized. I'm not sure when my sister will get around to euthanizing hers as she was proudly displaying them in a line. She received four altogether, though one of the bunnies was, in fact, a reindeer. I'm really hoping it was adopted! *g*

How are you feeling? I'm glad I could give you a laugh considering that you're sick. Well, the large dark chocolate bunny has been put out of its misery. Okay, there's still a little bit of bunny left, but it's the bottom half so I'm pretty sure the bunny is no longer suffering. ;-)

If I thought I could get Minerva to wear them, I'd certainly try it. However, she puts up a fight when one of us tries to brush her, so I can only imagine what would happen if we tried to force ears on her... *g*

LOL - Great story! But eh... isn't chocolate lethal for cats? I know it can be for dogs but how's that with cats?

PS: The Stig is your brother?! ;-)

I'm not sure if it's lethal, but it's probably not good for them. Fortunately, we found chocolate shavings all over the table, so it looks like Minerva spat out most of what she chewed. In fact, I think she was probably more interested in the foil wrapping than anything else.

PS: The Stig is your brother?! ;-)

LOL! I have to confess that I didn't get "The Stig" reference until I looked it up. I haven't seen Top Gear, though I've heard a lot about it. And, yes, my brother does seem to bear an alarming resemblance to The Stig! *g*

Oh, that's hilarious!

All we had was a cat who went after one chocolate egg. And the ham, but you'd expect that.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] dubghall! Great to hear from you! I'm glad this gave you a laugh! :-)

Now that's the kind of behaviour you would expect from a cat. Hamish tried to play a round of soccer with one of the Easter eggs on the table. As for the ham...Well, the little princess was locked away when we were eating, so she didn't have the opportunity to hunt it! *g*

Well, I was feeling better, but had a setback today. Ugh. LOL, glad to hear the bunny has been laid to rest. ;)

Go Minerva! She clearly has good taste! I think Rodney would approve. ;)

LOL! Well, yes, I will give her that. And I think that Rodney would not only approve but be hopelessly wrapped around her little paw. *g*

Speaking of Rodney and cats have you seen Earhart (http://rusty-armour.livejournal.com/41246.html)? ;-)

I have. Cute. Has he named it yet?

Hi again! Yes, Rodney has named him. Well, actually, he let Sheppard name him as Sheppard has been having some issues with Rodney's furry little friend. Sheppard called the cat Amelia Earhart...even though the cat is male. Rodney shortened it to "Earhart," but Sheppard still calls Earhart "Amelia" whenever Rodney's out of earshot. *g*
