Did not see the ending coming at all, even after "Gaston". But I'm glad I didn't because it was such a delight to see Lestrade mentioned!
It's great the ending came as a surprise! It works out much better that way! :-)
I'm sorry that this is the last installment because it's been a wonderful ride (thanks tobloom84for pointing me here).
Well, considering that I didn't expect it to be more than that one scene (which was never meant to be written in the first place), I don't think I've done too badly. *g* I have to admit that I'll miss Maurice and Scudder, but I think I've done everything that really needs to be done with them.
But I'm sure I'll see more wonderful things from you in the new year.
I've actually retired from writing fic (despite the parody to the contrary), which is the main reason why this wasn't supposed to be written. *g* That isn't to say that short pieces might not slip out accidentally from time to time, but I'm supposed to be focusing on original fiction now...Well, we're extremely fortunate to have so many great writers in the Sherlock fandom, some of whom have been inspired by Rupert Graves's other projects. And there are other Maurice stories out there. I can give you some links if you're interested. I haven't had a chance to read them, but I plan to check them out over the holidays. :-)
