I was just watching Last Chance to See on TVO and ended up with tears streaming down
my cheeks because I was laughing so hard. This has to be seen to be believed:

I think the last time I had such a good laugh was when I heard Benedict Cumberbatch impersonating
Alan Rickman singing "Candle in the Wind". Actually, I still can't hear the clip without cracking up:

Look, I've got PMS and SAD. I've got to grab my amusement where I can. *g*

I'd seen that parrot clip before, but I still laughed as much as the first time. It was on Stephen Fry's Twitter, I think. Absolutely hilarious. Thanks for sharing. :)

The other clip was really funny too. I hope you're feeling more cheerful now.

ROFLMAO!!! That has got to be the cutest parrot I've ever seen. He does rather look like a Victorian Gentlemen, although he wasn't being very gentlemanly! LOL

OMG! That parrot was really going for it. Hilarious. When the mood takes them, there is no stopping them.

I'm happy you enjoyed the parrot clip just as much the second time. I was more than happy to share it. I'm also glad you got a kick out of the Benedict Cumberbatch clip. :-)

To be honest, I'm still pretty down. However, I've been eating a lot of chocolate and know I'll feel better once my hormones level out again.

The parrot is called a Kakapo and it's native to New Zealand. It's probably also the rarest parrot in the world. There were only about a hundred odd left shortly after they finished filming Last Chance to See. Fortunately, they are being protected on this one island off of New Zealand, and conservationists are trying to increase their numbers. Anywaaaay, I agree with you about the Kakapo being just about the cutest parrot you could ever come across. And it's funny just how much the Kakapo looks like a Victorian gentleman, despite occasional outbursts of ungentlemanly behaviour. *g*

I'm so glad you enjoyed these [livejournal.com profile] karen9 I think it's absolutely true that laughter makes the best medicine. Well, laughter and huge quantities of chocolate. *g*

I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Actually, I envy you that chocolate. :) Since I'm lactose intolerant and live in a small town, it's been ages since I could get some good chocolate I can eat.

The parrot in question (a Kakapo) had been booming (making a kind of mating sound) for several nights running. I think he was definitely in the mood for some action and, as you say, there was no stopping him. ;-) Considering how much attention Mark was giving him (taking all those pictures), I'm not surprised the Kakapo thought his chance had come. This particular Kakapo has also been hand-raised, so I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks of himself as the same species as Mark. *g*

I'm very sorry to hear that you aren't able to get good chocolate to eat. :-( This probably won't help, but I know I sometimes find myself craving salt and end up eating chips instead. It's not the same thing as chocolate, but it would be something...

Ironically, they showed the Kakapo booming (making a kind of mating call) earlier in the episode, so he was definitely looking for love. And I have to say that Mark kind of asked for it taking all those pictures. The Kakapo must have thought that someone had finally noticed his booming, beautiful plumage, etc. and that he'd found a mate at last. *g*

Yes, he's obviously a man of many talents. Actually, he's amazing at doing voices in general. I recently bought a copy of Sherlock Holmes: The Rediscovered Railway Mysteries and Other Stories (http://www.amazon.ca/Sherlock-Holmes-Rediscovered-Railway-Mysteries/dp/1609982665/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1297477420&sr=8-1) and Benedict Cumberbatch does a fantastic job. I swear he had a different voice for every single character. It's wonderful. :-)

Actually, I like chips just as much as I do chocolate, but I know I should keep an eye on my weight, so I try to limit my chips-eating. Still... It's a good suegstion for really tough days. :)

And Benedict sounds so much like Alan Rickman. How uncanny!

Thanks for the laugh. It's helping to keep me awake.

I feel dirty! ;) That poor man.

He sacrificed his body in the name of animal conservation. It's something that should make any zoologist proud.

And Benedict sounds so much like Alan Rickman. How uncanny!

Yes, it's rather spooky. He has quite the talent for doing voices.

Thanks for the laugh. It's helping to keep me awake.

I'm glad these clips gave you a laugh and kept you awake. :-)
