I found a ring to replace the one I lost. It was sitting in my jewellery box, actually. I bought it several years ago at the same event (the British Isles Show), though I stopped wearing it for some reason. Anyway, I remembered that I had it and, so, dug it out while cleaning my jewellery box last night. Because I've lost weight since originally buying it, the ring now fits on my index finger instead of my ring finger, which works out perfectly because that was where I was wearing the lost ring. Now, it doesn't have quite the same presence, but it is Celtic and quite lovely all the same. It's even "Irish made". It says so inside the band. *g*

Please try to ignore my stubby square fingers and focus on the ring itself. It fits rather snugly at the moment, but that's probably because I'm, uh, retaining water. Here's hoping it still fits securely once I'm a little less...swollen. TMI? Yeah, I know. Sorry about that.

Oooh, that's so pretty! And don't worry about your fingers, mine are even shorter and stubbier. :)

That looks really pretty. :) Actually, I think I might have a similar ring, but I'm not sure. It's been ages since I looked in my jewelry box. I haven't really felt like wearing jewelry for a while. As for your hand, mine is about the same.

Yes, it is very pretty. I don't know why I went so long without wearing it. Knowing me, I probably just forgot about it. *g*

I don't know about that, but, if it makes you feel any better, people with stubby fingers are supposed to be more artistic. Of course, I learned this from a friend in high school who just happened to have short fingers. However, she's an incredible artist, so maybe there is some truth in it. *g*

You might want to take a look some time. I found all kinds of pieces I had forgotten about. That doesn't mean I'm going to start wearing everything I rediscovered, but it's nice to have a better idea of what I've got in case I do decide to wear something different. Despite all this talk of rings, I'm not normally a big jewellery person. I mean, I wear necklaces all the time, but that's the only constant. Sometimes I'll wear a bracelet, but I don't wear earrings -- and not just because the holes have closed over. *g* In any case, I seem to go through different phases and right now I'm on a ring kick.

As for your hand, mine is about the same.

Well, as I said to [livejournal.com profile] avictoriangirl, people with short fingers are supposed to be artistic. *g*

The ring is lovely.

Your fingers are not short. Your fingers are well-proportioned and definitely not stubby. In fact your hands could qualify you as a hand model.

It's a lovely ring. I have a necklace that would go quite nice with (bought it in Dublin).

I have short stubby fingers and am assuming artistic doesn't cover music, more specifically piano playing... I was at the Rock 'n' Roll Museum in Seattle and there was a note I couldn't play at one of the interactive displays becuase of the shortness of my fingers. :)

I have to confess that I have no idea whether there's any truth in that. However, I'm totally believing it until I'm told otherwise. Even then, I'd probably be in denial. *g*

Hey, you're right! It does look pretty Elvish! Hmm...It may not be "one ring to rule them all," but maybe it has special powers all the same...

Thank you very much! I'm glad you think so! :-)

LOL! You might not be saying that if you saw my actual hand. However, considering that you're such an intelligent person, I'll agree with your assessment. Saying that I could be a hand model might be pushing it a little, but I'll accept "well-proportioned". *g*

It's a lovely ring. I have a necklace that would go quite nice with (bought it in Dublin).

Actually, I also own a necklace that goes well with it as it has a Celtic knot pattern in its design. I don't know if it was made in Ireland, though. I'm guessing your own necklace must be very nice if you bought it in Dublin. :-)

I have short stubby fingers and am assuming artistic doesn't cover music, more specifically piano playing... I was at the Rock 'n' Roll Museum in Seattle and there was a note I couldn't play at one of the interactive displays becuase of the shortness of my fingers. :)

OMIGOD! Something similar happened to me years ago! My aunt was trying to teach me how to play the piano. The one exercise she had me do involved bending my thumb behind my fingers to hit the next key in the sequence -- but I couldn't do it. My thumb wouldn't extend that far because it was too short. I just tried it now and I still can't do it.

Well...to make us both feel better, I would argue that being "artistic" doesn't mean that you have to be proficient in every art form. I mean, there must be people who are excellent visual artists but crappy writers -- and vice versa. *g*

Nice ring.

It's a shame you haven't heard any news on your ring, but at least you're getting some new life out of an old one.

It's a lovely ring. I do so love Celtic jewellry.

My fingers are so stubby and podgy that I never wear rings!

I have always hated my hands, but someone told me they would be good for modeling. Your hands don't look much different from mine. I suspect that with a good manicure (and longer nails) we could both find work. Of course, my aligator skin would need lots and lots of moisturizer first.

Intelligent? Hah! Just agree with my assessment because you have lovely hands.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] tazzles! :-) I'm pretty sure I'm never going to see my lost ring again. However, as you say, I'm getting new life out of the old ring, so it's not all bad. Actually, I'm quite happy with it.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] karen9! I'm glad you like it! :-) I love Celtic jewellery too, but I guess that was kind of obvious. *g*

My fingers are so stubby and podgy that I never wear rings!

Oh, I'm sure that isn't true, though I can understand feeling that way. That may have been one reason why I stopped wearing rings -- because I also believed my fingers were stubby and podgy. Although they're a bit thinner now because I lost weight, I still think they're stubby. However, I guess I can't resist wearing rings -- for the moment, at least.

Okay, let's call it a draw. I'll agree with your assessment because you're intelligent and I have lovely hands. *g* It's great that someone told you your hands would be good for modelling. That has to mean that they're a lot nicer than you think. Of course, we're always our own worst critics and have parts of our bodies we don't like.

That's very kind of you. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] karen9. :-)

(P.S. How do you get your quotes in italics? I'm probably being dense but I can't work it out!)

No, you're not being dense at all. I use HTML coding (e.g. <i> </i>) So, if you want to italicize a certain sentence, you would place it between these tags: <i> </i>. For example:

<i>This is the sentence I'd like to italicize.</i>

This is the sentence I'd like to italicize.

Does that make sense?

I think I have only one part of my body that I do like. Well, maybe two but only because legs come in pairs. We are our own worst critics. That's one of the many prices we pay for being female.
