This post is mostly for [livejournal.com profile] karen9, who felt (and rightly so) that I need more cat entries. As I was at my parents' house on Sunday to celebrate my mom's birthday and Father's Day, I tried to get some pictures. Most of my photos are blurry because Minerva and Barnaby refuse to keep still when they've got a camera trained on them. However, there are some that aren't too bad. My sister took the best ones as she's a much better photographer than I am. I hope I've given her credit for the right shots.

Barnaby hanging out in Mom's laundry basket

Pictures my sister took of Barnaby sleeping in the kitchen

Another E photo of Minerva sleeping on the couch

Minerva sunbathing

Minerva embracing her silly side

That damned elusive Pimpernel Oakley. As it was close
to supper time, Oakley decided to grace us with his
presence, though he wasn't too happy about having his
picture taken. He's always playing hard to get, hiding
whenever I'm around, pretending that he doesn't want to
see me. He's such a shameless little flirt.

I love those pics. :) And I agree, you should definitely post more photos of your family's cats.
Incidentally, my sister takes better photos than me too. :)

Ah! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] crimsoncorundum! I'm glad you like them! :-D Yes, I'll have to try to post more cat photos.

I've seen some of your sister's photos, so I know that she's an excellent photographer. However, your own pictures are also very impressive. :-)

Awww. Lovely cat-shots. Well done your sister and you. And well done your parents for their impeccable feline taste.

I'm so happy you like them, [livejournal.com profile] grondfic! Thank you muchly! :-D

It's usually my mom who picks the felines, though often they pick her. That was the case with Barnaby, who was a stray. And she ended up with Oakley because he was the official mouser at the garden centre where she used to work. Now, she did pick Minerva. She went to a breeder to get her.

Awww! Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] rusty_armour! I know Minerva, but I haven't seen photos of Barnaby and Oakley before. They're both sweeties despite Oakley looking fierce. I'm impressed by Barnaby's whiskers in the second photo and Minerva being silly is adorable.

I'm very happy you like this post, [livejournal.com profile] karen9! :-D Barnaby is the stray my Mom adopted back in February. He's, uh, grown a bit since then. He's also constantly getting into trouble. Last night, he apparently knocked over the phone and upset a tray table. He also fell off the TV and the mantel. However, my mom admitted that he might have been hungover after having cat crack (e.g. catnip). Oakley only looks fierce because he didn't want to have his picture taken. When he's around my mom or my brother, he's a big, cuddly teddy bear. In fact, we often refer to him as a Gund Bear because he looks and feels like one.

Barnaby does have an impressive set of whiskers, something my sister managed to capture in that one photo. My mom loves that picture of Minerva being silly, so I made sure to send her a copy. :-)

I had to look up Gund Bears. They are cute, but with that fierce look Oakley must be Gridiron Bear!

If it makes you feel any better, I had to look up Gridiron Bear. *g* But Oakley really isn't fierce. This isn't a great picture (as it was taken with my cell phone), but I think he looks a little friendlier here (http://rusty-armour.livejournal.com/pics/catalog/438/10196).

Awwww....they look Iike very contented kitties! I love the one of Minerva being silly. They are all most handsome and look very soft and velvety. Maybe if I petted them through the screen I wouldn't break out? Pat pat. Oops... scratches...well it was worth a try.

Ah, thank you! I'm glad they look contented. And I'm glad you like Minerva's silly photo. :-D

All of the cats are very soft and velvety. I can't guarantee that you won't break out if you pet them through a screen, but they shouldn't scratch you. Well...Barnaby might grab your arm if you try to rub his belly, but, even then, he doesn't scratch. It's more of a warning. *g* Seriously, though, I usually only get scratched if I'm playing with cats (e.g. Minerva) or holding them when they don't want to be held and/or they get startled. In other words, I'm usually asking for it when I get scratched. ;-)
