I was very sorry to hear the news about James Horner. It's probably not a surprise that I'm a fan of his work considering that I'm a soundtrack junkie, though, surprisingly, I think I only own two of his film scores -- Well...three if you count the tape cassette of The Patriot Games soundtrack that is buried somewhere in my parents' house. Despite evidence to the contrary, I do have a soft spot for Horner. One of the first soundtracks I ever bought (if not the first) is the soundtrack for Willow, which I still love. I think it stands up very well for an eighties soundtrack and doesn't sound dated at all:

I'm sorry that James Horner will no longer be able to create beautiful film scores, but I appreciate and admire the wonderful music he was able to leave us before he was gone.

I'm embarrassed to say that I'd never heard of James Horner, until people on blogs I follow were starting to comment on his death. That soundtrack you shared is certainly impressive and I agree with you, it isn't dated at all. Very sad news.
