SGA Fic Recs -- Part One
Jul. 29th, 2007 07:14 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
As I've been recommending a number of SGA stories lately, I thought I'd compile a list of favourites here.
This is mostly for selfish reasons, as it means I can find these gems more quickly when I'm away from my beloved hard drive collection. It might also mean that I can occasionally help someone on
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
All of my recs are basically McKay-centric 'cause he's, like, my favourite character. And not everyone is going to agree with my choices. However, this is my own personal list of favourites, and taste is such a subjective thing. I will be adding more recs, so if none of your favourites are here now, they might still pop up at some point in the future.
Fic Recs
Episode-Related Fic
Breaking by Iocane
(Post-ep "The Defiant One". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay tries to deal with Gall's and Abrams' deaths. Totally about the hurt/comfort.)
Standing by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "The Siege III". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard seek comfort in each other after the Wraith attack Atlantis. Heavy on the hurt/comfort, but that's totally my kink.)
264 Hours by Lenore (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "The Siege III". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Great character piece for McKay! Deals with his sleep-deprivation during and after the Wraith attack on Atlantis and his inability to cope with his feelings for Sheppard.)
Do Not Disturb by Ellex
(Post-ep "The Siege III". General. Hurt/Comfort. McKay collapses from exhaustion after not sleeping for several days. I'm sure that anyone who saw "The Siege" episodes wouldn't be surprised. *g*)
In His Defense by saclateri
(Post-ep "The Siege III". General. Hurt/Comfort. Sheppard has to track down McKay when McKay goes missing after the Wraith attack on Atlantis. Then Sheppard has to find a way to help an extremely exhausted but insomniac McKay get some sleep. As you've probably guessed by now, I'm a sucker for any post-ep "Siege III" fic with a sleep-deprived and/or emotionally exhausted McKay -- and this story delivers in spades. In fact, it's one of the very first post-ep "Siege III" stories I remember coming across, so it should have been one of the first stories I recommended. However, I stupidly forgot the name of the writer and the story and couldn't track it down on my hard drive. In the end, I had to seek help from

Things to do in Denver When You're Dead by Speranza (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "The Siege III". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Excellent fic in which McKay and Sheppard are back on earth, suffering a bit from culture shock, and dealing with the aftermath of the Wraith attack on Atlantis.)
Venia by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Trinity". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay thinks everyone is shunning him until he finds a cup of coffee on his desk. I absolutely love this fic!)
Taming of the Fly by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep. "Conversion". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. While "Conversion" isn't exactly my favourite episode, I really liked this fic.)
The Theory of Evolution by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Conversion". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. AUish. The premise of this story is what would have happened if Sheppard hadn't been able to change back after being infected by the retro-virus. I think the strength of this story comes with the emotional repercussions and how various characters (especially Sheppard and McKay) deal with the situation. I think

Clothed in Sealace by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. One of my favourite post-eps for "Grace Under Pressure". Sheppard forces McKay to confront his issues after the puddle-jumper accident -- in more ways than one.)
Guardian by Dianann
(Slashy. McKay/Sheppard. Another one of my fave "Grace Under Pressure" post-eps. The puddle-jumper accident forces McKay to confront a painful incident from his childhood.)
Walking Wounded by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Grace Under Pressure". Genfic. Deals with aftermath of puddlejumper accident for not only McKay but Sheppard and Zelenka as well. Really good character piece.)
Surfacing by MrsHamill (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Grace Under Pressure". Slashy. Pretty heavy on the hurt/comfort. Nice interactions between McKay, Sheppard and Zelenka.)
Graceful Exit by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Grace Under Pressure". Slash. McKay/Sheppard/Zelenka threesome, if I'm going to be entirely accurate. Rodney was really cold, so he needed the extra warmth! *g*)
Where We Ought to Be by Wojelah (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Sunday". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Wonderful fic that I really wanted someone to write after watching "Sunday"! Thankfully Wojelah did!)
A Brief Layover by Cottontail73 (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Sunday". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Hurt/Comfort. McKay is not dealing well with the events of "Sunday," but then no one is.)
Beast of Burden by liketheriver (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "Sunday". Genfic. Ronon struggles to understand the Earth grieving process, especially in terms of his team-mates.)
Mile marker thirty-six by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(McShep. Slash. Post-eppy for "Outcast". Sheppard inherits the family ranch after his father dies and takes McKay there for a vacation. I first came across this story through podfic and fell in love with it. While I have a bit of trouble buying into the "Outcast" version of Sheppard's past, it works extremely well in this case. While staying at the ranch, Sheppard finds himself coming to terms with his past and his relationship with his father. He also finds himself growing a lot closer to McKay.)
Primacy by Chandri Macleod (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-ep "The Shrine". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. This story is "The Shrine" as seen through McKay's eyes. It's also about the memories of his experience and the important revelation he has when he remembers one thing in particular. I really like this story because of its hurt/comfort elements and the way

Time Travel, Alternate Dimensions or Virtual Reality
Victim of the Time by Bernice
(Sheppard is accidentally transported back to the 80s and searches for McKay, hoping McKay can help get him back to Atlantis and the 21st century. What he finds is a teenaged McKay hustling to pay for his tuition. And despite the description this isn't slash. It's more of a friendship fic than anything.)
Time in a Bottle by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard end up trapped in a virtual environment McKay created.)
The Wrong Side of the Looking Glass I: Six Impossible Things by Orithain & Rina
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard wakes up in McMurdo instead of Atlantis and realizes he's in another dimension. He tracks down the McKay of this other dimension and enlists his help.)
The Wrong Side of the Looking Glass II: Yesterday I Was a Different Person by Orithain & Rina
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to Six Impossible Things. Major John Sheppard wakes up beside a stranger in a city called Atlantis in an entirely different galaxy.)
The Wrong Side of the Looking Glass III: On the Other Side by Orithain & Rina
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to Yesterday I Was a Different Person. In a different dimension, Dr. Rodney McKay and Major John Sheppard attempt to start up the Stargate Project.)
Supersymmetry by Lallybroch (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard's daughter walks through the stargate from another dimension. I was tempted to file this fic under "MPreg or Kids," but I think this story is more about future possibilities and what might happen in other dimensions. In any case, I can't resist a fic in which a kid worms her way into McKay's heart, though the course of love between McKay and Sheppard isn't quite as smooth.)
Aliens or Ancients Made Them Do It
Advantage by Resonant
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. The team returns from a mission, and Sheppard thinks he's McKay's slave. Very funny and definitely one of my faves.)
Face Value by minnow (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. An Ancient device gives McKay telepathic powers.)
That Pon Farr Thing by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. After touching an Ancient device, Sheppard develops a condition in which he has to be in close physical contact with McKay. It's an Ancient gene/enzyme/scientificy kind of thing.)
Alternate Universe
Farm in Iowa Universe by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. This is quite possibly my favourite AU ever. In this ongoing series, Sheppard has inherited an Iowa farm (obviously) from his grandfather. He meets McKay when the irascible scientist runs into car trouble and gets stuck just outside the farm. From there, the rest is history.)
No Refunds or Exchanges by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. This is what helped inspire my own fic! In this delicious story straight out of a Harlequin novel, McKay arranges to have a mail-order bride shipped to Atlantis and ends up with Sheppard!)
Hindsight by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Wonderful fic in which Sheppard is an FBI agent who is called to deal with a suspected bomb that's been planted in someone's car. That someone is one Dr. Rodney McKay.)
More Than by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Sequel to Hindsight.)

(Sequel to More Than.)
Bell Curve or Ladies' Night at the Boom Boom Room by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Another fabulous fic. McKay follows his girlfriend into a strip club because he needs a date for his little sister's wedding. However, once he's inside the Boom Boom Room, he spends more time talking to bartender/stripper John Sheppard than searching for Charlotte.)
Learning Curve, or, Tab by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Loves Tangled Web by msgordo (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(WIP. Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Based on Mary Lyons' "Loves Tangled Web". This is a really awesome fic that everyone wants msgordo to finish! It's pretty dark and twisted, but in a good way.)
Hostage by danvers
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Dr. McKay is on the run and takes refuge in a stranger's house, hoping to lie low for a while. It turns out that the house belongs to John Sheppard, who doesn’t exactly appreciate the visitor.)
Animal Husbandry by Casspeach (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay is a vet who treats Sheppard's horse, Puddlejumper. *Sigh* I love Vet!Rodney.)
Sunny, California by Mystic
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Tee hee hee! Another fic in which McKay is a vet! This time he meets retired Pro-Surfing Champion Sheppard when Sheppard brings his neighbour's cat into McKay's clinic.)
On Life and Living by WesleysGirl (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sheppard is a widower who is still coping with the loss of his wife. When he takes his daughter to the Science Museum, he meets McKay.)
The Way to Comfort by WesleysGirl (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to On Life and Living. This time it's McKay who's grieving.)
Gone, Too Far by WesleysGirl (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to The Way to Comfort.)
Nine Days Off by WesleysGirl (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. This is a vacation fic that was written as part of the On Life and Living universe.)
Tragic Woobie Widower by Elayna (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. In this fic, McKay's the widower and he's raising a son. He meets John Sheppard when the police detective moves next door.)
String Theory, a Concerto for Violin in D Minor by Toft (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay is a composer and Sheppard is a violinist. And, as is so often the case, they both have issues they need to work through. *g*)
Unidentified by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard have known each other from college, but they become virtual strangers when McKay gets amnesia. Cool premise. Great fic.)
Unconventional Beauty by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Inspired re-telling of Beauty & the Beast!)
The Convenient Husband by Brighid (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Rodney McKay runs into an old friend (Sheppard) who has an interesting problem: unless he gets married he's going to lose his grandmother's inheritance and controlling interest of the family company. McKay has an interesting problem too. He's in love with Sheppard and has been since childhood. And I'm just a sucker for stories in which McKay is in love with Sheppard and assumes the love will never be returned. I enjoyed watching McKay and Sheppard's relationship progress through this fic.)
Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot by Someone Named Annie (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Rodney McKay's girlfriend insists that they take dance lessons before attending her cousin's wedding. However, McKay is a hopeless dancer and ends up requiring private tutorials from their instructor, John Sheppard. From there, things begin to heat up. What I like about this story is the pace. It's almost like a dance that slowly builds in intensity. It's got some great dialogue and it's satisfying to watch the McShep relationship grow and develop.)
The Spare by Rachel Sabotini
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. In order to end war and save the Lemas Empire, John Sheppard must marry Rodney McKay of Dyzan. As Sheppard faces an uncertain future, he wonders if he and McKay can possibly be compatible and endure this arrangement. I think you can guess what the answer is. *g* I like this story because Sheppard and McKay are literally forced to get to know each other and try to reach some kind of understanding. It's fun to watch Sheppard try to put the pieces of the McKay puzzle together and coax his husband to think about other things besides work.)
And All We Have by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. When the Ori destroy the Earth, the members of the Atlantis expedition have to figure out how they're going to survive. What I love about this story is that

Push by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Rodney McKay's bad day becomes even worse when he runs over a homeless person named John Sheppard. A very cool premise that plays out nicely in this story. It was great to watch a normally impatient and selfish McKay try to batter down Sheppard's walls and earn his trust. I'm not always a fan of Woobie!Sheppard, but

Pull by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Sequel to "Push". Definitely worth reading if you enjoyed the first story.)
Candy Floss by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Okay, I'll admit that I beta'd this fic. However, I fell in love with it as soon as I read it. I really got a kick out of McKay running away with the circus to hide from the military! And

Romance at the Roadkill Grill by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Rodney McKay, a TV chef, rushes to his friend and mentor's side when Sasha becomes sick. Then he finds himself agreeing to run Sasha's restaurant, The Roadkill Grill, in Gull Island, Maine while Sasha recovers. Fortunately, Sasha asked his fisherman friend, John Sheppard, to keep an eye on Rodney. And Rodney doesn't have a problem with that at all. *g* One of the strengths of this story is the great setting and cast of local characters. Of course, we see familiar characters like Elizabeth, Teyla and Ronon, but

The Twenty Year Thaw by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Rodney McKay is in charge of running the Pegasus Ski Resort, and John Sheppard is an Olympic gold medalist who is hired as a ski instructor. While there's definitely sexual chemistry between the two, there's also a shared history that needs to be resolved. I really like the setting of this story and I can never resist a pining, broken-hearted McKay.)
Romancing Alaska by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(McShep. Slash. AU. I have to confess that I'm actually still in the process of reading this story as I write up this little summary. However, I've really been enjoying what I've read, so I have no qualms about reccing. Originally written for the

Family-Related
Postcards to Jeannie by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(After Jeannie's visit to Atlantis, she and Teyla begin exchanging postcards. This is a funny and heart-warming fic that includes some beautiful postcards and pictures, not to mention comments from the rest of the team.)
Pictures for Jeannie by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Sequel to Postcards to Jeannie. This time Teyla shares some photographs with Jeannie, including drawings by Ronon and the usual comments from the peanut gallery (McKay and Sheppard).)
A Better Fate by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard decide to stay with Sheppard's parents when they're back on Earth. During their stay, Sheppard resolves past family issues, they both deal with the fallout from a pretty traumatic mission, and they discover something they didn't realize existed between the two of them.)
Learning to Fly by Cottontail73 (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. AUish. After Atlantis is destroyed, McKay insists that Sheppard accompany him on a family visit to the Millers during the holidays. I think my favourite thing about this story is the way Cottontail73 portrays the Miller family, especially Jeannie and Madison.)
Self Defence Mechanism by cybersyd42
(Post-ep "Sunday". Genfic. McKay visits the Millers after Carson's death. I'm pretty much a sucker for any fic involving Jeannie & family. I find this story interesting because it's Jeannie's POV of McKay going through the grieving process and trying to understand the concept of family. Then it's Jeannie trying to come to grips with the dangers her brother faces on Atlantis. I'm telling you. This fic has it all -- even a visit from Sheppard and Ronon to check up on McKay. Ahhh! :-))
Ordinary Saturday Morning by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Genfic that's short but sweet. Jeannie is able to sleep in for once when a visiting Mer keeps himself and Madison entertained. I think this story was worth reading for the absolutely adorable image of McKay and Madison asleep on the living room floor.)
A Mr. Toe Christmas by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. A funny and moving story in which Jeannie tells her brother that he can bring "someone special" for Christmas, and McKay chooses Sheppard, not realizing just how special Sheppard actually is. And, yes, I can't resist most stories involving Jeannie and/or the Miller family, but this fic was sweet without being sappy. I loved seeing McKay and Sheppard interact with the Millers, especially Madison.)
how the millers relaxed and learned to love rodney by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-eppy "Miller's Crossing". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Both Jeannie and Kaleb, who are still a little bitter and upset following the events of "Miller's Crossing," gradually begin to see Rodney in a different light. What I like about this story is that Jeannie's feelings towards her brother are realistic and understandable given their past and what happened in "Miller's Crossing". I found it interesting that she basically has to view Rodney through Sheppard's eyes before she realizes that she doesn't know her brother as well as she thinks she does.)
E-mail Tag by Fia Reynne (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Post-eppy "Miller's Crossing". Slash. McKay/Sheppard. At first, I wasn't sure if I'd like this fic because it's basically a series of emails exchanged between McKay, Jeannie and Sheppard, but the emails are funny and engaging and all the story that's needed.)
Christmas at the Millers' by Fia Reynne (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to E-mail Tag. Sheppard convinces McKay that they should spend Christmas with the Millers.)
His Dinner with Jeannie by X-parrot (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(General. Post-eppy (sort of) for "Miller's Crossing". While back on Earth, Sheppard has dinner with Jeannie, and Jeannie learns about what really transpired while she was in a coma. And, of course, I find it impossible to resist any stories featuring Jeannie, but this one has the added bonus of Jeannie learning that her brother was prepared to sacrifice himself to save her, which is something we didn't get to see in canon.)
Catalysis by Chandri MacLeod (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Hurt/Comfort. Angst. Another thing I can't resist is any story where McKay and Sheppard stay with the Millers. And as McKay is recovering from a traumatic mission that he still hasn't processed, this story pushes all of my hurt/comfort buttons. However, one of the story's strengths is its characterizations and the portrayal of McKay's bonds with his different family members, especially Jeannie.)
Fake Birds and Real Holidays by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Genfic. Team. Teyla/Jeannie friendship. McKay brings the team to his sister's place for Thanksgiving and everyone works out some issues. This story is funny, light-hearted and surprisingly angsty at times. One of its strongest points is the friendship between Teyla and Jeannie, not to mention the strong bond that forms between Teyla and Madison. However, this fic also has a lot to say about McKay, Sheppard and Ronon and how the whole group functions as a team.)
The Other's Each by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(McShep. Slash. Post-eppy "Outcast". After his father's funeral, Sheppard finds himself paying a visit to the Millers and bonding with Madison. During his stay, he finds himself comparing his family to the Millers and thinking about Rodney. I found this story very moving and I loved what it had to say about both Sheppard and McKay. I thought

A Little Stardust Caught by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(McShep. Slashy (though PG). Post-eppy "Miller's Crossing" and "Outcast". After Sheppard manages to mend some fences with the McKay siblings, he finds he wants to reach out to his own brother. This story appeals to me because Sheppard finds himself doing things he thought he'd never do (like sending an email to his brother) because of McKay. Sheppard's struggle to find words to say to Dave is sweet and endearing. And I love the idea that McKay and Sheppard are so close that they share their messages with each other.)
Rodney's Adventures in Babysitting by John Sheppard
(Genfic. Team. In this very sweet and humourous story, Teyla enlists McKay to babysit Torren. Of course, this is easier said than done and Torren the toddler causes all kinds of trouble for McKay with the help of Sheppard and Ronon.)
MPreg or Kids
A Beautiful Lifetime Event by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay and Sheppard accidentally activate an Ancient device that takes DNA samples from both of them and creates a baby. Most of the fun comes from watching McKay and Sheppard trying to be parents and slowly realizing that their connection goes beyond their daughter. This still remains one of the best SGA stories I've come across.)
The Circle by Mz. B. Stone (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Short but sweet sequel to A Beautiful Lifetime Event.)
Miracles by Master Elayna
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. McKay gets knocked up by Sheppard (with the aid of an alien device) on PXF-241. Of course, aliens totally made them do it! I have to admit that I'm quite fond of this story. I like the idea that McKay tries to hide his pregnancy from everyone at first, except for Beckett, who obviously knows already. And I might have been just a teeny bit influenced by this story when I was developing my own fic. *g*)
He's Having Her Baby by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. This could have easily been included under my "Humour" section because it's absolutely hilarious! McKay is convinced that Sheppard is pregnant and that Chaya knocked him up.)
He's Having His Baby by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Sequel to He's Having Her Baby.)
Fuzzy Duck Smell by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Perhaps the strangest MPreg I've come across. McKay lays eggs. Very sweet and funny.)

(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. AU. McKay ends up raising his niece (not Madison because this was written before "McKay and Mrs. Miller") alone when Jeannie dies. However, the picture changes when Sheppard shows up. This is a great story and a cool premise!)

(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. AU. This is a series I absolutely love! After an accident that he feels responsible for, and a particularly nasty argument with Sheppard, McKay leaves Atlantis and heads for Earth, reconnecting with his sister. However, once again, he ends up raising his niece after the Millers die in a car accident. When Sheppard decides to look McKay up, he finds McKay is deeply entrenched in his role as a single father and unable to return to Atlantis.)

(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. Atlantis goes to extremes to make Sheppard happy and rid him of his loneliness. This is a nice twist on the typical MPreg, especially as Sheppard really struggles with the idea of becoming a father. And unlike some of the fluffier MPregs, this has a rather dark edge to it. However, I think I may be drawn to it because McKay has a baby strapped to his chest. *g*)

(Slash. McKay/Sheppard. When McKay cuts his hand on an Ancient device on a planet the team visits, the device takes a sample of his DNA and, nine months later, a baby is born. However, it isn't a joyful event for McKay, who doesn't want to raise the baby or have anything to do with it. Sheppard, on the other hand, falls in love with the baby immediately and hopes to convince McKay to keep him. So why do I like this story? Well, it deals with some of McKay's past issues, including why he's afraid to embrace fatherhood. It's sympathetic and moving, but also funny and light-hearted at times.)
