rusty_armour | An Overdue Thank You to Grondfic

I only received the beautiful Christmas card and present that

grondfic was kind enough to send me yesterday, which is why I didn't acknowledge her generosity sooner. Due to the aftermath of rotating Canada Post strikes at the end of 2018, a lot of overseas mail is just trickling through now, though I'm happy to have received my card and present within the Twelve Days of Christmas. :-) In any case,

grondfic sent me a copy of Matt Hartley's play Eyam. She had seen the play at the Globe and wrote an excellent review in October. I mentioned in my comment that I have a fascination for the seventeenth century and really loved the premise for the play.

grondfic obviously remembered my enthusiasm and was sweet enough to buy me a copy of Eyam. I'm really looking forward to reading it!

grondfic a big thank you for sending me a copy of Brian Friel's Translations (along with a stunning J.R.R. Tolkien postcard). Once again,

grondfic was kind enough to send me a copy of this play because I had expressed an interest in it. After reading her fabulous review of Translations, I mentioned how interesting the play sounded because I was taking a linguistics course at the time. Of course, it was interesting for other reasons as well. Anywaaaaaaay,

grondfic thought I should read the play, and I'm very grateful that she went to the trouble of mailing me a copy. I really should have acknowledged her generosity at the time. I'm also ashamed to admit that I still haven't read Translations, but I'm going to start it this weekend. Believe it or not, I made that decision yesterday morning -- and then found

grondfic's Christmas package in my mailbox that evening! *g*

grondfic, thank you very much for thinking of me and for being such an amazing friend. Over the years, you've fed my soul both intellectually and spiritually -- often when I've needed it most. Your friendship means more than I can say.
