New Year's Fic Rec

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2020 has got off to a good start. :-D As today was the big Yuletide author reveal, I thought I would recommend scfrankles' wonderfully clever and hilarious Dawn of the Decaffeinated. I had the honour to be the Canadian-picker and get a sneak peek at the story. It's based on an Arrogant Worms' song, and it's a sequel to The Appealing Pirate Life. You don't have to be a fan of the Arrogant Worms (or a Canadian) to appreciate the story. In fact, someone with an average caffeine addiction should be able to relate. *g* A Tim Hortons runs out of coffee resulting in much hilarity and the most Canadian apocalypse you could imagine.

No problem! I was more than happy to promote this fine story! :-) I'm also happy to say that a friend on LJ has already read both this story and The Appealing Pirate Life -- and she isn't even Canadian or a coffee drinker. *g*

To be fair, I'm neither a Canadian nor a coffee drinker either :P Though I feel I have spent the last two Yuletides being an honorary Canadian. And it's a wonderful feeling ^___^

Oh, I only mentioned it to demonstrate how appealing your story is to all kinds of readers. Truth be told, coffee doesn't agree with me. I mostly get my caffeine from pop and sometimes tea. I also wonder about how Canadian I really am. For one thing, I'm not into hockey, but then I'm not really into any sports. *g*

I would say that you're definitely an honorary Canadian after writing two stories set in The Last Saskatchewan Pirate universe. Actually, I would say that you became one last year. :-)

I think my friend was happy to find some new fic that she might enjoy. It sounded like she genuinely liked both stories and was glad that she decided to read them. :-)
