COVID-19 Silliness

I originally posted this on Facebook and then thought that I might as well share it on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth as well:


I've been staying with my parents during the COVID-19 pandemic, which turned out to be a blessing as my poor mom managed to do in her back again and has been struggling off and on with sleeplessness (though it's a lot better than it was about a month ago). Anyway, I've been trying to help out as much as I can, which has meant that my mom has made me her official head gardener. I know next to nothing about gardening, but I've managed to do a lot of weeding and watering. She's also entrusted her poppies to me. This has mostly just involved tying the heads of the poppies to bamboo sticks as they become ridiculously top-heavy as they grow.

Sadly, I think that my mom is more pleased about how I look in her gardening hat than the gardening itself. She insisted that my brother take a couple of pictures of me wearing the hat while posing beside the poppies. She thought I should capture my COVID-19 lockdown experience for posterity. I think she just wants a record of me looking like a gardener in case she never sees it again.

I was going to reply to this in my inbox, but accidentally deleted the post. Oh, well, I can still do it here. Great work in the garden. And thanks for sharing the cute cat pics. :) That's always fun. I miss having a garden. Hopefully, we'll soon have one again. If this Corona crisis will ever end. There is so much we need to do in our everlasting slow motion move. At the moment, we can only sit here and wait, like everyone else, I imagine. I can understand that you preferred to spend the waiting at your parents' home. Less boring if you have someone to talk to and maybe watch tv with. Right now we have Poldark and Vera and are waiting for Midsomer Murders and Call the Midwife, so at least there's someething to do once in a while, except tidy up after the kids. We haven't been outside for several weeks and we really need to do something about that. I hope everything will be fine in the garden and that you and your family are still doing ok.

I'm sorry that you no longer have a garden. I don't have a garden myself, so I'm grateful to have the use of this one, even if it does mean doing some actual gardening. *g*

I hope you get to see those new episodes of Midsomer Murders and Call the Midwife soon. I'm sure that everything will work out okay in the garden. My family are doing well (other than my poor mom with her back and sleep issues). May you and your family continue to remain healthy. Try to hang in there. :-)
