My SGA recs list has grown so big that I've had to make a separate section for my vid recs.

In fact, my list of vid recs has taken on a life of its own. This is partly due to the fact that I watch a lot of songvids, but I've decided to make [livejournal.com profile] hesternic and [livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny my main scapegoats and place most of the blame on them. Not only have they created a phenomenal number of vids, but they have created a phenomenal number of good vids that had to be included on my recs list. Eventually, I'll probably have to create yet another section just for them. *g*

Vid Recs

sga_rumble by Shalott & Speranza ([livejournal.com profile] cesperanza)

(This was one of the first fan vids I watched and definitely the first vid that had me crying, I was laughing so hard. This is truly hilarious, especially if you've seen West Side Story.)

King of the World by Speranza ([livejournal.com profile] cesperanza)

(Okay, I thought I laughed hard when it came to sga_rumble, but I practically peed my pants the first time I watched this vid! It's frickin' HYSTERICAL!)

DNA by Speranza ([livejournal.com profile] cesperanza)

(This is brilliant and funny! I'm just relieved that Speranza's on our side!)

Four Ways to Defeath the Wraith Through Good Health, Part One by [livejournal.com profile] zoetrope

Four Ways to Defeat the Wraith Through Good Health, Part Two by [livejournal.com profile] zoetrope

(I can't tell you how much I love these two vids! I just wish [livejournal.com profile] zoetrope would complete the final two installments because this is important information we need to know!)

H'Atlantis Who's Who by [livejournal.com profile] bakerybard

(What? You thought I was going to be impartial? Just because I played a very minor role in creating this vid is no reason for me not to rec it. It's smart, it's funny, and it's Canadian, dammit!)

Nel's SGA Vids

(My favourites are "Once More With Feeling," "Apocalypse Please," and "Holding Out for a Hero".)

Dr. McKay: "Miracle Man" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(Another great McKay vid by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic! She found a great song to describe McKay and his role on Atlantis! I seem to say this in all of my comments about [livejournal.com profile] hesternic's vids, but she always finds the best clips to accompany the lyrics of any song she vids!)

Atlantis: "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(I still crack up when I watch this vid! [livejournal.com profile] hesternic picked the perfect song and clips for a songvid about Athosian stick-fighting! Even McKay gets into the action! *g*)

John Sheppard: "Rocket Robin Hood" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(This vid might be funnier to Canadians who actually remember this very cheesy, surreal cartoon. However, the humour should still appeal to people who didn't suffer through this show in their impressionable youth. Basically, all you need to know is that it's Robin Hood in space. Anywaaaaaay, I wasn't sure how [livejournal.com profile] hesternic would pull off a vid using the theme song from Rocket Robin Hood, but her vid went beyond my expectations! I especially like the clip at the end of McKay bitching in "The Lost Boys".)

Both Sides Now by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(I absolutely love this vid! I think it might be my favourite of all the vids [livejournal.com profile] hesternic has created so far! The lyrics of "Both Sides Now" work so perfectly to describe McKay's transformation after he comes to Atlantis. This vid accompanies [livejournal.com profile] hesternic's wonderful story, Candy Floss, which I've recced as well. :-))

McShep: "Spinning Wheel" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(One of the songvids in the Candy Floss soundtrack. Like the other songvids that accompany Candy Floss, McShep: "Spinning Wheel" works well with the established theme and adds an extra layer of meaning to the story. I'm probably drawn to this vid because I've always liked the song "Spinning Wheel". However, I also liked Hesternic's clever use of carnival images, especially the one with the carousel. And, as usual, she found the best clips to accompany the lyrics.)

McShep: "Send in the Clowns" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(Another vid in the Candy Floss soundtrack. I'm a fan of Shirley Bassey, so it was great that [livejournal.com profile] hesternic chose this version of "Send in the Clowns". As with McShep: "Spinning Wheel", [livejournal.com profile] hesternic incorporated some fabulous carnival images, especially ones of clowns. I loved her use of the clown clips from "Hive," not to mention the McKay & Sheppard clown transformation at the end.)

McShep: "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(A Candy Floss soundtrack vid using a song from one of my favourite groups, The Beatles. I was impressed by the clips [livejournal.com profile] hesternic found to match the lyrics, as it's probably not the easiest song to vid.)

McShep: "Ring of Fire" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't just include the whole Candy Floss soundtrack considering how many Candy Floss vids I've recc'd! Once again, [livejournal.com profile] hesternic has chosen a great song and cool clips to accompany it. I especially like the clips from "Inferno".)

SGA: "Scooby-Do, Where Are You?" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(I almost fell out of my chair the first time I watched this. Hell, I still crack up when I see the clips of Sheppard and McKay with the Shaggy and Scooby-Do voices dubbed in.)

007 ! Sheppard by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(Absolutely brilliant! And I'm not just saying that because I'm a big Bond fan. [livejournal.com profile] hesternic's Stargate version of the Bond opening is inspired. I love the clip she chose for the Goldfinger Bond/Blofeld exchange from the Moby remix.)

"Night of the Swallow" by [livejournal.com profile] hesternic

(This vid was created for the Flying Leap Challenge and I was immediately struck by how emotionally powerful it was. As usual, [livejournal.com profile] hesternic uses wonderful clips that match both the tone of the music and her chosen theme.)

Breaking Glass by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(Taking her inspiration from Nick Lowe's "Breaking Glass," Pyrate Anny came up with the premise that Atlantis is a city made of glass. I was surprised by how many wonderful clips she was able to find of glass or other objects breaking.)

McShep: "Heroes" by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(You've gotta love a vid that celebrates heroic moments from both Sheppard and McKay!)

Sonic Boom / Atlantis by by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(Created for the Kawoosh! Video Game Music Challenge, this vid is set to the theme song of the Sega video game "Sonic Boom". Although I can't watch this vid without getting the theme song stuck in my head, I still find it fun and entertaining. I love the clips Pyrate Anny has used.)

Cupid vs. McShep by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(A very clever and amusing vid in which McKay and Sheppard enlist Cupid's help with their love life. And this vid has the added bonus of those awesome Cupid clips of David Hewlett from Where The Heart Is!)

A McShep Valentine by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(This Valentine's Day vid is worth it just for the cleverly edited engagement ring scene from "Quarantine"! McSheppers will love this!)

She Won't Date Astronauts! by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(Although this vid isn't heavy on McKay content, it's delightfully clever and funny. I actually laughed out loud when Elizabeth's love interest was revealed. Pyrate Anny chose the perfect clip!)

McShep: Light My Fire! by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(I have to confess to being a tiny bit biased when it comes to this vid because I'm the one who introduced Pyrate Anny to the Shirley Bassey remix version of "Light My Fire". Oh, and I earned my first ever vid credit, which was just too exciting! :-) *Clears throat* My own vanity aside, I love all the fire-related clips Pyrate Anny incorporated into the vid. They were very effective!)

McShep: Lay by your Side by Pyrate Anny ([livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny)

(Inspired by ([livejournal.com profile] liketheriverrun)'s hilarious comic strip, A Bed Too Small, this vid is both amusing and touching. As always, I'm impressed by Pyrate Anny's ability to find just the right song and clips to make this vid work!)

Here it Goes Again by Cosmonaut_elf ([livejournal.com profile] cosmonaut_elf)

(With its fast punk song, this vid is an ideal showcase of the fast, frenetic whirlwind that is Rodney McKay. Cosmonaut_elf made smart choices when came to finding clips to match the rapid tempo of the song.)

be my yoko ono by dayln03

(Another vid with incredibly fast-paced editing to match the quick tempo of the Barenaked Ladies' "Be My Yoko Ono". This vid is clever, sweet and very appealing.)

sga_the tree by newkidfan

(This vid is absolutely stunning. I'm still amazed by its scope and beauty every time I watch it. I can't even begin to imagine how much time and effort newkidfan must have put into this vid. This is something you really need to see to believe!)

Sandman by lim

(An absolutely incredible vid that I found (once again) through [livejournal.com profile] ebonlock's LJ. I don't know how lim did it, but the vid basically looks like a comic book come to life, only it's a comic book using clips from "Doppelganger"! If you haven't seen it, you must check it out!)

Stargate Atlantis, House Style by SKRoberts

(I couldn't quite believe it when I read the description of this vid on [livejournal.com profile] ebonlock's LJ, but this is the SGA credits re-created using the theme and style of House. It's very cool and something you can appreciate even if you aren't a House fan.)

SGA: The Video Game by starrylizard

(This very cool vid was created for the Kawoosh! Video Game Music Challenge and is SGA as a video game. It has to be seen to be believed.)

Miss Teen USA by BeachPartyBoi

(A hilarious animated parody of the Miss Teen USA Pageant -- SGA style!)

Stargate: Atlantis - Star Trekkin' by roddysshadow

(I don't think you have to be a Trekker to find this vid funny. Just about everyone is familiar with Star Trek on some level, and various characters on SGA fit the roles surprisingly well.)

SGA Crack!Vid - Bad Touch (Hermiod's Secret Diary) by mercsire

(This is just too sick and hilarious! I don't even know how to begin to describe it! All I can say is watch out for those little green pills! *g*)

Wraith Be Gone by hdtvguru

(This vid was actually submitted to the McKay Video Contest. It's an advertisement for a revolutionary new product called Wraith Be Gone. You truly have to see it to believe it! It's, like, totally changed my life! *g*)

Dog's Breakfast Trailer

(What can I say? It's a trailer for David Hewlett's movie, so it's awesome, of course!)

Slug White Nerd -- Stargate Rap

(I think this has to be seen to be believed. David Hewlett raps. It's funny and a little bit scary too. *g*)

Atlantis Actor's Public Apology

(David Hewlett's profuse and heartfelt apology for said rap video.)

McKay Contest Promo

(I laughed myself silly the first time I watched this. Then I proceeded to watch it a few more times and laughed even more.)

David Hewlett's Acceptance Speech from the Spacey Awards (The night I watched the Spaceys, I really hoped someone would post a vid of David Hewlett's acceptance speech! Thankfully, my good friend [livejournal.com profile] bakerybard did just that!)

Stargate Atlantis' My Favourite Line Part 1

(This is the first installment of "My Favourite Line". In this edition, David Hewlett and Mars re-enact one of David's favourite lines from the show.)

Stargate Atlantis: My Favourite Line -- Miller's Crossing

(This is my favourite installment of "My Favourite Line" to date. David Hewlett delivers his favourite line from "Miller's Crossing" surrounded by Baz' favourite things.)

Hi, [livejournal.com profile] mckayfan! Thanks for the heads up about the broken link. I've gone in and fixed it using the URL you gave me. I'll double-check it when I get home as my workplace blocks YouTube.

I'm glad you like the list. I'll definitely be adding more vid recs in the future. :-)

Well, only the links with "NEW" beside them are ones I added on the weekend. The rest have been added over time -- since the end of July to be exact. *g* Anyway, I hope you find something you like in either the vid or fic recs.

I like the new look, by the way.

Yay! Now it's even easier for me to find vids.

Oh, good! I'm happy to hear that someone (besides me) might find this list useful! *g* I'll be sure to keep adding new recs to this list as I come across them. Actually, I'm kicking myself because there were some David Hewlett vids I meant to add, including this adorable (if disturbing) latest entry (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meWiVy_tK-w) from "My Favourite Line". I'll have to include it on the list next time I'm updating.

Yes, I seriously need help.

I like the new look, by the way.

Ooooh! Thank you! :-) It was completely unintentional. Well, that is to say, it wasn't something I had planned to do. However, I came across these really COOL SGA mood themes (designed by [livejournal.com profile] spacedoodet) and I just had to download them. Of course, that was when I realized that I can't have fabulous new mood themes without having a fabulous new look as well. In any case, I decided it was high time to renovate my LJ and this is the startling result. Actually, I'm very pleased with it. The Magic Paper design appealed to me as soon as I saw it, so it didn't take long to choose a new layout. :-)

Umm...I'm not sure why I'm babbling so much. I mean, it couldn't have anything to do with the massive amount of Easter M&Ms I just ate... *g*
