Olympic Boycott: Day Six
Aug. 13th, 2008 09:00 pmUp until now, I've managed to filter out most of the news surrounding the Olympics. However, my sister sent me an article about the opening ceremonies that I couldn't help reading. Some of you may have heard about this already, but apparently the adorable Lin Miaoke was lip synching "Ode to the Motherland" and the song was actually sung by seven-year-old Yang Peiyi. However, as Yang Peiyi is chubby and has uneven teeth, she didn't provide the kind of image China wants to project to the world. Of course, this is the same country that is only using tall, thin, attractive, young women as medal presenters. Gee, what are you going to do next? Film beautiful young actors in posh hotel suites pretending to be political dissidents? Or maybe you'll get Lin Miaoke to lip synch a song about the virtues of censorship and human rights violations?
Uh...yeah. Good luck with that.

No, I don't get it either. It's very weird.
