Hallelujah! I Finished the Bastard!
Apr. 23rd, 2006 01:09 pmOMIGOD! I finally finished my fuckin' fic!!! It's been tweaked, edited and revised!!! It's finished, done, completed, finito! And it's been posted! Hallelujah! It's been posted! I thought I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to post it, but it's now at Warp 5 and both the EntSTSlash and Maco_Love lists. With Warp 5, my italics didn't show up, so I had to go in and add the HTML coding for it. However, everything else was okay, so I don't really have any complaints. However, with EntSTSlash and Maco_Love, my story was "truncated" because apparently fic that is 64k is too long. This meant that I had to delete the messages and post the story in two parts. Of course, I forgot to change the "1/1" to "1/2" and "2/2" in the subject headings, so I had to do some more deleting and post the story again. This isn't a problem if you read your messages from the YahooGroups site itself, but anyone who reads posts via email is going to be pissed...
Did I mention that my fic is finished? That means I don't have to obsess over it anymore. In fact, I can choose never to look at that stupid piece of shit again! *laughs in maniacal glee*
I'm hungry. Is anyone else hungry? I think I'm starting to get a headache too. I can't think why. Hmm...maybe I'll go grab some lunch and then take a really long nap...

Date: 2006-04-25 02:10 am (UTC)If you're considering watching Stargate then go with Stargate Atlantis (http://www.stargateatlantis.com)! It totally rocks! And I'm not just saying that because one of the main characters is actually Canadian. I'm also saying it because it's my current obsession! So choose Stargate Atlantis (http://www.stargateatlantis.com)!
*Clears throat* Anywaaaay...I find SciFi in general to be a rewarding experience. I believe that Roswell does count as SciFi. So does Doctor Who btw. :-)

Date: 2006-04-28 10:17 pm (UTC)I've cut and pasted it and now I'll take it home, read it, and call it George. Wow! 76 pages! You know how I love me some long fic.
Congrats on finishing!
Have a great weekend!
Re: You finished!
Date: 2006-04-29 04:42 am (UTC)I'm really touched that you're taking the time to read this. Umm...I hope it won't be confusing because I don't think you read the story that comes before it (Standing Down (http://fiction.entstcommunity.org/viewstory.php?sid=2227&ageconsent=ok)). I, uh, never sent you the link because I was having some confidence issues with it at the time and...well...I won't go into the other excuses. I don't think skipping the second story will be a major problem. Other than a couple of references to Standing Down (http://fiction.entstcommunity.org/viewstory.php?sid=2227&ageconsent=ok), this story can pretty much function as a stand alone...I think. Oh, man!
So it was 76 pages at Warp Five, eh? It was only about 55 pages in Word. Hopefully that will make a difference if you find you aren't enjoying the story. Though if you find you aren't enjoying it, I hope you'll stop reading it and just lie to me about how much you loved it. Yeah, that would work for me.
Did I mention how much I like the name George? Hee, hee, hee...
Well, I hope you have a great weekend too! Thanks for being the coolest friend ever!
Love,

Regarding the continuing adventures of Hayes and Porthos
Date: 2006-05-01 09:08 pm (UTC)Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a good day. Did you visit your parents' place for the weekend?
"Umm...I hope it won't be confusing because I don't think you read the story that comes before it (Standing Down)."
I have now! Actually I assumed that anything I didn't get was canon-based. For example, I figured that there had probably been an episode where Hoshi had been trapped in the transporter and had experienced another time.
So, is there going to be another section? You're not just going to leave poor Reed stuck in the "wrong" time line are you? Or, you could bring Hayes into "Reed" time. (Hmmm...like "Reed" fruit?)
Knowing that Reed is your favourite, I found your stories really interesting. He doesn't come off as very sympathetic. Of course that's probably why you like him! You perverse person you! Have you explored why everyone likes Reed despite him being a difficult personality? Clearly the captain has a thing for him as well as Hayes. Is it the magnetic British accent? Is it because he's prissy, and touchy, but likes blowing things up? Is Reed really obsessed with the captain? Clearly Hayes' real love is Porthos. Tummy rub! I feel like I'm writing the tagline for Soap!
So, I'm assuming there is an even earlier story that I missed where they had their first time? After the big fight? Did I already read that one?

Re: Post Post Script to: Regarding the continuing adventures of Hayes and Porthos
Date: 2006-05-02 12:41 am (UTC)Well, when I worked up the courage to write my first slash, I figured that I might as well go the whole hog. Why be only partially debauched when you can embrace debauchery completely? *g*

Date: 2006-05-02 12:23 am (UTC)I'm touched that you went to the trouble of reading "Standing Down". Hopefully it made a couple of things a little clearer in "No Matter What the Cost". You're right about Hoshi being trapped in the transporter. That was canon. I, uh, heavily borrowed from that episode.
*Lowers voice* Don't tell anyone, but I'm pretty sure that "No Matter What the Cost" is going to be my last Enterprise fic. After four years and seven fics, I need to explore another fandom. I think you know which one. *g*
I would say that Reed is a difficult personality, but he may come off as being more unsympathetic in these stories, especially the first two in the series when he still had issues with Hayes and didn't entirely trust him. In canon, he had a huge chip on his shoulder because he was convinced that Hayes was trying to take over security, etc. And, yes, he can be prissy and touchy, but he has that British accent and loves to blow things up, so that's a big turn on, naturally. I guess I am a perverse person, but I like Reed for all his faults. It makes him a more interesting and compelling character in my eyes.
I feel bad that I didn't include another scene with Hayes and Porthos in the latest fic. Maybe Hayes could have been sitting in the mess hall with Porthos instead of Hoshi. Hayes could have been feeding Porthos some cheese, which would have really had Reed seeing red. Oh! And instead of Hoshi slapping Reed, Porthos could have bit him. *Shakes head* Oh, if only I hadn't posted the story already.
Now, I'm positive that you did read Circumventing Authority (http://fiction.entstcommunity.org/viewstory.php?sid=2223&ageconsent=ok), but I certainly won't complain if you want to take a quick look. It's mostly just PWP, but it does have their first time. It's not right after the big fight, though it's still pretty close to it. I think only a week or two has passed.
