Okay, I'll admit that "bidding frenzy" is a bit of an exaggeration, but there has been 16 bids for my story at the MSF/DWB David Hewlett Charity Auction, which comes as a very pleasant, if unexpected, surprise! In fact, I thought I'd be really lucky if the story managed to earn £4, so I'm thrilled that the highest bid is now at £5.50!

Thank you very much to everyone who has bid on the story so far! Although this is all for charity, it's a nice little boost to the ego as well! :D

And you were worried...

I might dive in again if I lose the duck. Had a little tangle with someone over him. I do have a maximum I'll pay, even for a good cause.

Of course I won't even volunteer for such things, so you are way a head of me in the nerve department (*snorts* like anyone would bid on me).

I feel your pain. There were a few items that went over the maximum I was willing to pay, such as the first season of Traders. However, there have been new items added to the auction, so maybe the other bidders will become distracted enough for you to get the winning bid on the duck.

Well, I'd bid for a story you'd written and I'm sure there are other people who would bid on it too. Still...I was a bit nervous when the auction first started and I was afraid no one would bid on my fic. You really helped me out when you placed that first bid! :-)

Thank you very much, [livejournal.com profile] crew4, though I guess at least part of the credit should go to the bidders... *VBG*

You know you've been up to twenty bids for a while right? I was totally outclassed! "Bidding frenzy" is exactly the right word!

Oh, yes. Believe me, I know. As I have no shame, I keep checking the number of bids on pretty much a daily basis. *g* I was tempted to update my LJ with the new total (£10.75), but I figured that I would be the only person really interested and that it would probably just annoy my flist. However, I'll include the final bid on my story (which I can't see going above £10.75) and the total amount of money raised when the auction is over.

I was totally outclassed!

You could never be outclassed. Outbid, maybe, but not outclassed. *g* I still can't believe that the bids have reached this level. I mean, I usually won't pay that kind of money for professional writing, never mind fic! Thank Herne the money is going to such a good cause, though it puts a bit of extra pressure on me. For that kind of money, the fic had better be seriously good!

"Bidding frenzy" is exactly the right word!

Well, it's not a bidding frenzy compared to the bidding war that's been going on for other items, but for a [livejournal.com profile] rusty_armour fic it's a pretty big deal! ;-)
