Well, limited psychic powers. You see, I apparently have the power to turn off alarm clocks with my mind...

Last night, I’m positive that I set my alarm clock. I even checked it two or three times before going to sleep. I even checked it around 1:30 am when I was suffering from a brief bout of insomnia. And, yet, this morning, when I woke up around 7:55, the alarm clock had been turned off. I have no memory of turning it off. In fact, I don’t remember being conscious at all before waking up so very very late. Seriously. I don’t.

Now, I know that some of you will argue that I must have turned it off in my sleep. However, I have a hard enough time functioning when I’m awake to pull off that kind of stunt when I’m asleep. And I’m pretty sure that I haven’t experienced any other sleep-walking/doing incidents. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, when I was staying at my parents for Thanksgiving weekend, I had this really strange dream that turned into a musical. I was so afraid that I might have been singing in my sleep, that I asked both my parents if they had heard me, uh, singing. My mom’s response was basically: “Uh, no. Why? Was I supposed to?” For some reason, my dad didn’t really seem too surprised by the question or the circumstances. Hmm...

I have to say that if this is a psychic power, it kind of sucks. My hair looks like crap because I didn't have a shower this morning and I had to skip breakfast. Thankfully, I thought to grab a snack bar (that would be a power bar for you SGA fans), so I have eaten today. By some miracle, I also managed to catch the 8:45 bus at Finch and was only 10 minutes late for work. I guess they don’t call it Freaky Friday for nothing, eh?

You're right. It *is* a psychic power. Your mind is invincible!

*is scared* :-)

Wow. I just thought I had this strange (and mostly useless) ability, but now I'm beginning to think that you could be right. Maybe my mind is...invincible. What if my powers extend not only to my own alarm clock but alarm clocks everywhere? Why, I'd have the world -- nay, the universe -- at my mercy! Bwahaha!

Hmm...perhaps you are right to be scared. My ultra-powerful mind might reach across the ocean and de-activate your alarm clock too! But probably not. I mean, you're a good friend, and I don't really want to throw your life into chaos. Besides, even someone with an invincible mind needs allies. You could be a part of the Invincible League. I'd give you a cool costume and everything. Yes, the possibilities are endless...

LOL!! I had that same problem when I was at Uni! Until one day I woke to find myself cradling said alarm clock and couldn't claim ignorance any more. I had to put it across the other side of the room after that. Perhaps you could deactive that alarm clocks of everyone's boss :)

When I was still at home home, I used to have my alarm clock on the dresser across the room and had to physically get out of bed to deactivate it. I should probably consider doing that again. Fortunately, I'm usually awake to some degree when it goes off and have the presence of mind to reset it if I'm going to get more shut-eye. I usually need at least a couple of attempts to get up in the morning, so I often set my alarm clock to go off at least an hour before I plan to rise and...Well, you get the idea.

I haven't woken up to find myself cradling my alarm clock yet, though I've managed to knock it on the floor a few times. I like your suggestion of tampering with everyone's boss's alarm clock. My mom took it a step further and theorized that if I disabled everyone's alarm clock, people would be late all the time and my own lack of punctuality would no longer be an issue. *g*

*gasp* This exact same thing has happened to me too! Perhaps it is folie à deux? (...or trois or quatre... however many of us there are...) Whatever the reason, it goes to show how tired you must have been that night when you went to bed. You must have really needed the shut-eye :)

I'm not exactly sure what kind of folie it would be, but obviously this isn't an isolated incident if you've experienced it too. And I do remember being really tired that night. It probably didn't help that I was awake part of the night too. Yeah, I guess I really did need the shut-eye. I know I don't get enough sleep during the week, though my body can usually wait until Friday night before it crashes. Maybe it got mixed up this week and confused Thursday night for Friday night. I'm not even going to comment on what state my brain might have been in! *g*

Amazingly, I have the same wondrous power. But just for the sake of physical exercise, I usually hit the snooze button three or four times most mornings. I am afraid of getting RSI from doing that.

That is amazing! Well, most mornings I hit the snooze button too. Well, actually, I just keep re-setting the alarm clock because it means more work and leaves more margin for error.

I think I'm definitely a candidate for RSI. *g*
