Well, this is a first. I've started my Christmas shopping on Halloween. It's Amazon's fault. It helpfully sent me a message that the fifth series of Doctor Who is available for pre-order at 30% off. My brother was helpful enough to tell me the same thing yesterday when I spoke on the phone with him, though he hadn't gotten around to sending me a link. Looks like he didn't need to. *g*
I feel kind of bad because my brother doesn't have the fourth series or all of last year's specials yet. However, when I pointed this out to him, he didn't see it as a problem. I suppose he can just borrow my sets again until he gets his own. And he'll be up on me with the fifth series because I don't know when I'll be buying my own copy. With all the spending I'll need to do in the next couple of months, I don't feel I can justify it. Well, it's not going anywhere and I have no problem waiting.
Hope everyone has a great Halloween! I'm feeling pretty hormonal, but I've still got lots of candy, so the situation is under control. *g*

Date: 2010-10-31 03:58 pm (UTC)I don't want Christmas to come so soon. One of the local supermarkets has all their Christmas stuff out already. By the time Christmas arrives I'm sick of it.
Have a great Halloween!

Date: 2010-10-31 08:17 pm (UTC)He's on a tighter budget than I am, so I'd actually prefer it if he didn't. If he's looking for ideas, I'll direct him towards less expensive items. Besides, it really isn't going anywhere, so I'm happy to wait. It's the kind of thing I could save for a rainy day, or, as winter is coming, a blizzard. *g*

I hear ya. I usually try to deny it for as long as I can, which isn't easy when the stores (as you've pointed out) already have their Christmas stock on display. While the day itself is nice, I don't look forward to all the stress leading up to it. And by the time New Year's is over, I'm ready to become a hermit. *g*
Have a great Halloween!
Thank you very much! I hope your Halloween was enjoyable! :-)

Date: 2010-10-31 04:04 pm (UTC)I didn't plan to (I'm not a fan of Christmas) but I had to buy stuff against humidity and that store had a sale of Christmas stuff. *g*

Date: 2010-11-01 01:57 am (UTC)It's true. It is nice to cross someone off my list. Usually, I don't start my Christmas shopping until about mid-November at the earliest -- and that's because I order a number of items online.
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween to you too! I'm watching ghost shows on A&E at the moment -- not that watching ghost shows is unusual for me. *g*

Date: 2010-10-31 10:35 pm (UTC)I bought hubby's Christmas gift on Tuesday and he will have used it all up before Christmas. It is the second part of his chivalrous swordhandling course. He's having a blast, so I don't mind.
Seriously, I think you should make sure that Doctor Who series is appropriate. You are just looking after your brother and making sure it isn't too scary for him.

Date: 2010-11-01 02:41 am (UTC)LOL! That argument might work if my brother hadn't watched the fifth series when it aired on SPACE. Of course, there are the special features to consider... *g*

That's fabulous! I'm glad he's been having a blast with the first part of his chivalrous swordhandling course and will now be able to partake in the second part! :-)

LOL! That would sound pretty hypocritical coming from me! When we went to see Watchmen, he saw me flinch and look away during one of the goriest parts of the film. If anything, he's the one who has to tell me if something might be too scary! *g*
I know I'll be buying the series at some point, but I think it will probably be in the new year.

Date: 2010-11-01 03:28 pm (UTC)It's great that you're so organized. My sister was bugging me last week for a list, but I didn't even want to think about Christmas at that point. I mean, I gave her a couple of suggestions, but she apparently wants more than that. *g*

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well on Halloween, though it's good that you were able to watch The Crow and Anthony took care of you. :-) I wasn't feel 100% myself, so I was glad I chose to stay in this year rather than venture out on a ghost walk.

Date: 2010-11-02 08:52 pm (UTC)Are you feeling any better? I'm with you on the hormonal. I'm feeling wickedly emo this week. Tears and fears both just under the surface. I'm also way too excited about the fact that my passport may be waiting for me at the post office tonight. At least I don't have anger issues this round.

Date: 2010-11-03 03:17 am (UTC)No, no, no! Don't do that! Even with 30% off it's still pricey. I don't even have the nerve to ask my family for it, especially as my mom is encouraging all of us not to spend too much. As it is, I think this will be the only Christmas present B receives from me. I told him as much and he didn't have a problem with it. Of course, his birthday is in a week, so he knows he's got other presents arriving shortly before Christmas. *g*
My sister has been nagging me for a list, so I'll try to take care of that soon. I'll also update my Amazon list, which I've told my family to ignore. *g*

I'm on my third day, so my hormones seem to be levelling out. Okay, I've still got the impatient/cranky thing going on, but I don't feel as if I'm about to burst into tears or commit homicide. That was more last week. *g* I'm sorry you've been feeling wickedly emo. I hope these latest symptoms disappear FAST. Oh, and I hope your passport was waiting for you at the post office! That's something to be happy and excited about. :-)

That's great! I wish I could say the same, but every cycle involves anger issues for me. *g*
