This is kind of embarrassing, but I didn't realize until today that
waltzmatildah's
fic auction was separate from
qldfloodauction, so I was surprised when I received notification that I'd won
bwblack's fic offering (as the
qldfloodauction doesn't wrap up until Wednesday). If I had known, I would have
definitely plugged it on my LJ. In my defence, I sort of gained access to
waltzmatildah's
fic auction through the back door, as I clicked on a link from
holmesian_news. I'm also quite dense and get easily confused. *g* Anywaaaaaaay, I'm happy to say that I was able to donate $10 AUD to
Mission Australia and will receive a
Sherlock fic in return. :-)

Date: 2011-01-25 01:44 am (UTC)1) This is actually based on a request I came up with a while ago, but it went unanswered. Lestrade is a widower and every year (for the past three or four years) someone places flowers on his wife's grave on her birthday. As his wife's birthday comes around again, Lestrade is determined to discover who is behind this kind gesture. He stakes out the cemetary and discovers it's Mycroft (who perhaps does it as a way to say thank you because of Sherlock). Maybe Lestrade questions Mycroft there and then or maybe he makes a gesture in return.
2) Lestrade has finally had enough and refuses to work with Sherlock anymore. Mycroft tries to convince Lestrade to change his mind, but Lestrade won't budge. Out of desperation, Mycroft says that he'll give Lestrade whatever he wants most if he'll work with Sherlock again. Lestrade agrees but won't actually tell Mycroft what he wants, leaving Mycroft to figure it out on his own. Lestrade might even say it isn't anything Mycroft can give him. Anywaaaaay, to make a long rambling request/prompt shorter, it turns out that what Lestrade wants is something simple and sappy (e.g. not to come home to an empty flat/house, have someone go to the trouble of cooking him a romantic meal, etc.).
Uh, I said I wouldn't be too specific, didn't I? Oooops. *g* Like I said, you don't have to use either of these ideas.

Date: 2011-01-24 05:46 pm (UTC)Well, it seemed like the least I could do. Besides, there's an added incentive to donate when you're receiving a fic in return. :-)

I'm sorry South Africa has been having floods as well, though I'm glad to hear that they're not as bad as the ones in Australia and Brazil. I hope you're not in one of the areas being flooded.
