It's dreadful. One horrific disaster after another. Those poor people and animals. (Don't forget the animals; the International Fund for Animal Welfare usually steps in in disasters.)

I know. It's really hard to wrap your head around devastation of this magnitude and scope. And I'm not sure why all of these disasters are happening at once. It almost seems as if Mother Nature is seeking revenge.
I think help_japan is still putting together a list of charities. I looked on the Dreamwidth community and there weren't any animal charities listed. I know qldfloodauction and help_nz both included their versions of the RSPCA. In any case, I'll see if there's a specific post covering charity options and suggest the International Fund for Animal Welfare if there hasn't been any other animal charities put forward.
Hi again. I found the right link for the list of charities at help_japan and I'm happy to say that the American Humane Society has been included as it has set up disaster relief for the animals in Japan:
If I win any items at the auction, I'll try to donate here. And if someone bids on my own auction item and asks for a charity of choice, I'll ask for the American Humane Society as well.
BTW, I'm actually going to watch The Listener as it hits the airwaves tonight (as opposed to watching the episode a couple of weeks later online). I finally got caught up on Sunday night. :-)
Where are you at babee? I can't find youuuuuu! I did a delicious search and a lj search and a google search but you didn't come up in connection with help_japan. Or, are you just bidding this time?
It's so sweet that you would try to search for me. :-) I didn't mention my auction item because I'm essentially offering the exact same thing as before (a beta), though I've upped the word count to 10,000 words. As you already won the last beta, I don't expect you to bid on the second one. However, if you really want to see it, you can find it here (http://community.livejournal.com/help_japan/2978.html?thread=186786#t186786). You'll probably notice that the description is virtually the same as my help_nz offer. *g*
I had toyed with the idea of offering another fic, but I'm afraid that I'll end up writing something long. I'm still working on my qldfloodauction fic, though I'm determined to finish the rough draft by March 31st. I could offer a fic if you wanted, but you'd have to promise to give me a simple prompt that wouldn't involve more than 3,000 or 4,000 words. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about American Idol, Figure Skating RPF or Bandom to do any of those fandoms justice, but I could try something for a fandom in which I have some familiarity. Let me know if this is something that would interest you and I'll post an offer.
Although I'd love a fic, I don't want to distract you from your original writing. Write, baby, write, and get rich on Kindle! Well, less poor? That's what I'll aim for anyway!
As you're willing to be dragged into my wacky fandoms, beta works for me.

You're a very good friend. I'll get back on track with the original fiction once I've wrapped up my charity fic. I'm hoping to have the rough draft done by the end of the weekend -- Monday night at the latest.

Thanks again for your incredibly generous donation! I'd feel bad if the money wasn't going to such a very worthy cause! :-D
