I know it's taken forever, but I finally started working on the rough draft of my original fiction project today. I think I only managed about 200-250 words, and I'm not sure how much of it might end up being scrapped, but it's something. I'm also not sure if what I wrote is definitely going to be the opening, but that's okay. It's easy enough to shift it somewhere else if I do keep it.
Although I've started the rough draft, I still have some background research I'd like to complete and I'm very close to wrapping that up. I printed out a shitload of material last weekend that should be extremely useful. I'm hoping that any other details can be researched as I go.

What is it going to be about? I don't remember. :|
Actually, that would be my fault. I've been pretty vague and quiet about the details -- mostly because I'm afraid it will sound stupid if I try to explain it. Let's just say that it's set in Toronto and deals with the paranormal. *g*

Best of luck!

Yes, I was seriously beginning to wonder if I'd ever finish the background research. I know the material will be useful as I'd be floundering around in the dark without it. *g*
Best of luck!
Thank you! :-)

Uh...yeah. Pretty hardcore, I'm afraid. Click here (http://tehomet.net/glossary.php#S) and look under "Slash" and "Smut" if you'd like a better idea of what this fic might entail. *g*

Date: 2011-06-23 08:02 pm (UTC)I must admit I used to write some pretty graphic stories for a friend, but I couldn't put them on the net, so bravo for having the guts to write and air porn ;)

Date: 2011-06-24 03:29 pm (UTC)Oh, it's okay. I know you weren't presenting a moralistic viewpoint. It's nice that you were curious enough to ask whether there was a difference in the fanfic world. :-)

Well...I think it's easier to share these things when you're writing under a pseudonym and most of your audience doesn't know your real identity. The people who do know me and read my stuff are people I feel relaxed and comfortable around. They're the kind of people I can be myself around. Now, if my co-workers were to find out (or other acquaintances who don't know the full extent of my geekiness) then I'd be absolutely horrified -- not because I'm ashamed but because I know they wouldn't understand and probably wouldn't be very tolerant.
To be honest, I don't really get any more nervous posting graphic material than non-graphic material. Of course, it was a different story after I wrote my first slash, but then I giggled my way through writing the sex scene. Even now, I'll still find myself shaking my head, but it's become easier over the years.
