My sprained pinky is now a beautiful shade of purple and black, so, naturally, it seemed only right to share:

I have to admit that the picture doesn't really do justice to my pinky. Nevertheless, I'm totally sending the link to my mom, so that she can see my injury in its full glory. I'll be visiting my parents some time over the long weekend, but I'm afraid the bruising might be a yellowish green by then or some of the swelling will have gone down. So, the picture isn't just because I'm a freak but because I care.

Your hand is bruised as well. Does it hurt a lot?

I'm sure your mom will give you lots of sympathy. That's the idea isn't it? *g*

Yes, my hand is quite bruised. More bruised than I expected, though I shouldn't be surprised as I've had a sprain before. The pain isn't too bad. It comes and goes and just consists of aches and twinges, really. However, the pain is sharper when I inadvertently bang my baby finger against something. I got it caught in my sleeve this morning when putting on my shirt and that wasn't fun. *g*

Actually, it's more about impressing her. Uh, we sometimes compare injuries, especially bruises. We're both kind of sick that way. *g* The sympathy actually goes without saying. I was able to get that when I talked to her on the phone. ;-)

I know it hurts, but you probably should tape it to the next finger or it may heal in an "outward" position.

You really did quite a number on that poor little pinky. I think you one-upped my one-up. ;-) I didn't have any bruising.

You know, I didn't even consider that, which was pretty stupid of me. As I read this comment this morning (when I didn't have time to respond), I ended up going to the washroom shortly after my break to tape my pinky to my ring finger. Thankfully, my pinky seems a bit more flexible today and there's less pain when I touch it. Actually, I think it's feeling better with the support of the other finger beside it. Thanks for pointing out why this was a good idea. :-)

Well, I might have won in the bruising department, but I think you won in the number category as you have multiple injuries! *g*

The extra support allows your tendons and ligaments to relax and recover.

I usually have multiple injuries with lots of bruises and cuts on my legs and hands. My work is industrial in nature, so it is to be expected.

I have to say that the extra support makes a world of difference. Thanks again for insisting on that. :-)

Considering that I manage to hurt myself with mundane, everyday tasks, I'd probably be dead by now if I worked in your line of work! *g* Kudos to you for being brave enough to face such dangers (and injuries) with such calmness and grace.

I am far from calm or graceful. Just ask my hubby; he thinks I'm a drama queen.

Well, despite being born on a Tuesday, I don't possess a shred of grace, so I'm sure you look really good in comparison. And I think you've figured out by now that I'm a total drama queen. I wrote two posts on my sprained pinky (complete with photos) after all. *g*

I, too, was born on a Tuesday. My first and middle names mean "God's gracious gift" and "full of grace". None of these have helped me.

Ouch! A good job on that injury.

Sadly, I seem to get the most spectacular injuries by trying to perform the most mundane tasks. In this case, I was lifting my hairdryer out of the linen closet. When a washcloth fell, I instinctively tried to grab it before it hit the floor and whacked my hand against the door frame. When I sprained my ankle, I was getting off a YRT bus and managed to step on a rock that shifted under my foot. When I broke my leg at the age of nine, I was only skating up a slight incline on the ice rink in my parents' backyard. Anywaaaay, I'm very proud of the results of this injury. I like the combination of colourful bruising and swelling. *g*

Looks like it's carried down into your palm. Looks bloody painful.
I hope you're taking care of yourself. :)
Have fun with the parentals!

Yes, that seems to be what happened. At first, I just assumed it was the pinky that was injured (as that's where all the pain seemed to be coming from), but there's bruising at the base of the ring and middle fingers and some bruising down the side of my hand.

Looks bloody painful.

It's not as painful as it looks. Actually, I'm not aware of it a lot of the time, especially when my baby finger is bandaged or I'm icing it. It does hurt if I try to bend it or I hit it against something. However, even then, the pain isn't significant. It's practically nothing compared to when I first injured it. I had to lie down because I saw coloured spots before my eyes and started feeling light-headed. *g*

I hope you're taking care of yourself. :)

Yes, very much so. I'm icing my hand between typing this and was icing it properly before logging on. I also ice it in the morning while having breakfast. The rest of the time, I have the pinky bandaged and strapped to the finger next to it -- but not too tightly.

Have fun with the parentals!

I'm sure I will. I think I'll head over on Canada Day itself (Friday) as I've made no other plans for the holiday.

Oh my god! Your poor fingers! Sprains are the worst!

Good Lord! Computer problems and sprains! Who did you piss-off, my love?

Aspirin? Or alcohol? (Not together, bad for you.) I'm glad you're icing it, etc. Very good to have a medical professional in the family for such times!

I was going to wish you a happy Canada Day, but golly! In the face of such doom, I don't know. Are you sure you're safe to leave the house? I hope you had a good time at your parents. Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with you (and didn't offer my sympathy in a timely matter). Tomorrow's the start of the Atikokan trip. To sort out the house as much as possible, do what we can to sell it, and have my dad's interment. So, with estate stuff and trying to get things in order at work, etc. to the take the time off, I haven't been keeping up with much else.

Be careful for the love of Hearne! You need your fingers for typing! Speaking of which I have been promised fic!

Yeah, sprains are pretty annoying, but there's been a fair amount of improvement since Sunday, so I really can't complain. The sprain isn't painful so much as a hindrance.

Good Lord! Computer problems and sprains! Who did you piss-off, my love?

My guess would be E.M. Forster and/or Merchant Ivory. *g*

I'm happy to report that I made it to and from Scarborough without sustaining any injuries, though I think I risked some serious damage from my mom when I described (in great detail) a vid clip in which Rupert Graves does the voice of a lion cub who thinks his mother's milk is, like, the best thing EVER. Naturally, I sent my mom the link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOnyz3UcEXE) for the vid. However, I digress. The day was good, especially as I spent a lot of it in the garden. I hope you also enjoyed Canada Day. :-)

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with you (and didn't offer my sympathy in a timely matter).

Oh, don't worry about that. I know you've been super crazy busy, and I was being a total drama queen about both the sprain and my computer problems. No sympathy was required or deserved. *g*

You see? Super crazy busy! YIKES! You've got a LOT on your plate at the moment! No wonder you haven't had time to do much else. :-( I hope the Atikokan trip is successful and you're able to take care of a lot of things.

Be careful for the love of Hearne! You need your fingers for typing!

I'll try my best to be careful. Typing has actually been one of my biggest struggles. You'd be surprised how many keys involve using your left pinky. *g*

Speaking of which I have been promised fic!

Oh, don't worry about that. It's short and porny and it's not going anywhere. To be honest, I'm not even sure if you'd like it, so please feel free to skip it if it doesn't look appealing. If nothing else then don't rush to read it. Wait until you have the time and inclination.
