God, I can't rely on Canada Post for anything. I just found out that the cards I was supposed to receive for some charitible gifts I purchased through Unicef were lost in the mail. That might not be a big deal except that I need them for birthday presents for some friends of mine. Thankfully, the woman who emailed me at Unicef has kindly agreed to send out some new ones. Maybe this time, they'll actually reach me. Probably shouldn't count on it, though.

I'm so fed up with it. Canada Post has already lost a set of new cheques I had ordered, which meant I had to call the chequing company to ask for new ones. They also lost my dad's tax return, so he was forced to fill out another one. Although I sent my uncle a birthday card about a week before his birthday, it arrived late. Okay, he's on the other side of the country, but mail is supposed to take three business days to reach its destination. I'm wondering if I dare send out my usual Christmas cards and packages this year. Will a month be long enough for cards to get overseas or is that too much to ask from the joke that is Canada's national postal service? I'm seriously tempted to complain, but there's probably no point.

Ha! And I thought Dutch mail was bad (remember a certain package?). Mail gets lost here too - and when it comes to size the Netherlands are no match for Canada!
As for your Christmas cards... I hope Canadian mail won't fail you there because you DO have a reputation to keep up. :)

Oh, yes. I remember that package, which was certainly worth the looooong wait. ;-) I wouldn't be surprised if Canada Post was at least partly responsible for the delay.

Mail gets lost here too - and when it comes to size the Netherlands are no match for Canada!

Well, I can understand mail occasionally getting lost, but it seems to have become the standard now. And what really ticks me off is that Canada Post went on strike during the summer because they felt they deserved better benefits. However, it seems that since the strike ended, the service is even worse.

As for your Christmas cards... I hope Canadian mail won't fail you there because you DO have a reputation to keep up. :)

I KNOW! I want to maintain my record! *g* Well, I think I'm going to send my cards out even earlier this year (possibly starting tomorrow if I get any written tonight) as I can't trust Canada Post to deliver anything on time -- and that's with the official cut off dates they've given for Christmas cards and packages. *Rolls eyes*

Urgh that sucks, sounds even worse than our postal service!

I can't even bear to think about xmas cards yet......it's ages away! Isn't it? ;p

You get mail delivery on Saturday, so I'd say Canada Post was worse by default. *g*

Not for me when I have to deal with Crappy Post. *g* Oh, I'm sure you've still got time. I just seem to be a little extra organized this year. I actually started Christmas shopping last week, though that's probably because I was ordering something online.

Ugh. Sorry to hear about your crappy service. :( *hugs* I suspect that the US Mail is going to be headed in that direction because they will be shutting down a bunch of our post offices soon. :|

*Hugs in return* Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] avictoriangirl. :-) I'm sorry that US Mail is being forced to shut down a bunch of post offices. That can't bode well. However, if the service goes downhill then at least US mail will have a good reason. As far as I can tell, Canada Post doesn't have any excuse for being as crappy as it is.

I have a bank account with Royal Bank because of Canada Post. I prefer to get my paycheques, I'm crazy like that.

Yeah, that is pretty radical. Thankfully, my paycheques are also direct deposit. What Canada Post lost were personal cheques I'd ordered. Unfortunately, I think the only way I can receive them is through the mail, but I shouldn't have to order any new ones for quite a while.

I'm sorry. :( This really is bad. I've been complaining about our postal services, but apparently, the shops and other places that have taken over are usually doing a reasonably good job. (As long as insane neighbours don't steal the mail from out of our mailbox.)

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] crimsoncorundum. I'm sorry that your postal service is sucky too. I'm also sorry that your neighbours steal your mail from your mailbox. :-( I'm pretty sure I've had packages stolen in the past because mail carriers have been stupid enough to leave them outside my apartment door (e.g. in the hallway). That's why I have most packages sent to my parents.

BTW, I'm trying to get back on track with the fic I've been neglecting. I'm about halfway through Sunshine in the Rain (http://agrisublunares.net/agri/?page_id=173). I'll send you some feedback once I've finished reading it. :-)

That's a shame. I expect a country like Canada to have an efficient postal service.

Here in South Africa we seem to be doing quite well *touch wood, cross fingers and toes, etc.* I've ordered several DVDs lately that have all arrived pretty quickly and in perfect condition. They've been from the UK and Germany so their postal services are impressively efficient, particularly Germany's.

I'm glad you've been having more luck with the postal service in South Africa, [livejournal.com profile] karen9. May that trend continue. :-) Oh, and it's good to know that your DVDs have been arriving quickly and in perfect condition. I'm not surprised that Germany's postal service is impressively efficient considering how efficient Germany is in general.

Urgh, I hate it when things get lost in the mail! That happens way too many times. And it always happens when it's something important you're waiting to be delivered! I really hope that things work out better for you this time around!

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] funkyinfishnet. :-) It's very frustrating when things get lost in the mail, especially when it's something important, like birthday or Christmas presents.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not having much luck with your post. Ours isn't too bad. At least the posties can find me!

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] tazzles. :-) I'm glad your postal service isn't too bad. If your posties can find you then it's already an improvement on Canada Post. *g*

Your experience is not unusual. I sent a cheque to Bell to finalize a canceled business Internet account. The cheque never got there so I ended up dealing with a collection agency. Canada Post is getting less reliable.

*Shakes head* Yeah, somehow I'm not surprised that my experience isn't unusual. Fuckin' Canada Post. Of course, I'm not really a fan of Bell either. They're really quick to get on your back if they think you've missed a payment. I'm sometimes tempted to leave Bell, but the alternative would probably be Rogers and I hate Rogers more. *g*

Seriously! That's horrible! How totally frustrating. You should just be able to assume things will arrive safely.

Yes, "frustrating" is the word for it. And now I'm worried that they'll screw up again, and I still won't have those Unicef cards -- cards I'll need by the 26th as that's when I'll be seeing my friends. *Sigh* It really has reached the point where I don't want to have anything sent to me by Canada Post anymore. Even my mom, who's usually the voice of reason, has started to feel the same way. Oh, well. I guess I can't really complain. This is pretty minor compared to the problems other people have -- and not just with Canada Post. ;-)
