I never thought it could happen, but Scotty and Malcolm Reed have successfully found a new beagle for Captain Archer (with a little help from [livejournal.com profile] dubghall, generous friend and evil mastermind)! The epic tale of how Aramis made it here has to be seen to be believed. Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] dubghall was kind enough to record this momentous event in a collection of revealing photos called The Voyage Home. You really need to take a look at these pictures. My own action figure adventures pale vastly in comparison! *g*

Of course, I had to take some pictures of Archer and his NEW beagle, Aramis. To set the scene properly, I made sure that Archer opened his Christmas card and present under the Christmas tree.

I'm sure some of you think it was wrong for Archer to open his present early. However, poor Aramis had been stuck in that box for the last few days, though Reed was thoughtful enough to create air-holes. [livejournal.com profile] dubghall also emailed a fairly complicated set of instructions to me, so I wanted to make sure I had access to a computer in order to read these instructions and then check out The Voyage Home. And, yeah, okay. I was dying to know what this mysterious package contained! I do plan to save my other Christmas presents for Christmas.

It's at times like this when I'm amazed at how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends. I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to [livejournal.com profile] dubghall and all the people who make my life so much happier and richer through one of the best gifts of all: friendship.

This is the best post ever (speaking as someone who ignored everything else that happened in the Reboot film in favour of raging for five days about WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BEAGLE). I love the happy!discovery arms. And Aramis's ridiculously yay!lol face.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] impishtubist! I'm so glad you enjoy seeing Captain Archer with his beagle! :-) He's had to go a long time without a dog as Porthos was sent to London to stay with Sarah Jane Smith when a Dalek attacked Enterprise. Uh, long story. *g* To make matters worse, Archer has witnessed the arrival of two dogs (before his beloved Aramis) and he wasn't allowed to claim either one of them as his own. This (http://rusty-armour.livejournal.com/92296.html) was the last desperate bid Archer made to have his own dog...Aramis really couldn't have come at a better time!

Oh, thank you, [livejournal.com profile] smirnoffmule! I'm thrilled that you like this post! :-D Poor Archer has had to wait a long time for another beagle. As I explained to [livejournal.com profile] impishtubist, Porthos had to be sent to Sarah Jane Smith in London when Enterprise was attacked by a Dalek.

LOL about your five-day rant over the fate of the beagle in the Reboot film! I hope Archer's happy!discovery arms and Aramis' ridiculously yay!lol face helped in the healing process. ;-)

Aw, how kind of Lt. Reed and dubghall to reunite Captain Archer with his puppy! Terrific photos at both ends of the delivery process!

Thank you very much, [livejournal.com profile] pyrateanny! I'm glad you like the photos at both ends of the delivery process! I'm still touched that Reed and [livejournal.com profile] dubghall were kind enough to make sure Aramis reached Archer. :-)

Yay! I'm so glad that he arrived safely. I was worried about the US post office and Canada Post misbehaving.

After seeing Archer so sad after the arrival of Kiki, I knew that we had to apply Science! and give him (and the beagle) a happy ending.

Awww, sweet! They look so happy together. Aramis is a good name. He's my favourite Musketeer.

HIL.ar.i.ous! Thank you for sharing this lovely moment of **(re?)-union.

I am so glad that [livejournal.com profile] dubghall and Lt. Reed applied Science to get Aramis **back(?) where he belonged.

Excellent! Glad to see Archer with a beagle (probably don't want to mention why Mr. Scott went through the trouble). :)

I was a bit worried too, though more about the Canada Post end of things. *g* Anyway, Aramis definitely did arrive safely. :-)

Ah, I had wondered if maybe Archer's sadness after the arrival of Kiki might have had something to do with all of this. It was very kind of you to apply Science! and give Archer and Aramis a happy ending! :-D

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] hemulenofdoom! I'm so glad this gave you a laugh! :-) I don't blame you for being confused by the tricksy timey-wimey things. As someone who sucks at math and science, I completely sympathize. I can tell you that Aramis is a different dog from the one Archer previously had (Porthos), but it's possible that Aramis is Porthos' brother as one of the male puppies in Porthos' litter was named Aramis. Another possible theory is that Aramis is descended from one of the puppies in the litter or is another beagle Archer acquired and named Aramis. One thing we do know is that Admiral Archer's prized beagle was involved in a little accident after being used as a test subject in an experiment Scotty was conducting. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia on the subject:

In the 2009 Star Trek film, it is implied that "Admiral Archer's" prized Beagle was involved in a freak accident when Montgomery Scott used him as a test subject for a transporter experiment. Porthos, however, would have been over 70 years old when Scott was born, therefore it is not at all certain whether or not the beagle in question was Porthos, although it is possible that it has been made possible for dogs to live longer by that time. The novelization of the film has the beagle transported onto the Enterprise.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, Aramis (rather than Porthos) is the beagle used in Scotty's experiment. Fortunately, as you can see, Scotty managed to track down Aramis and return him to his daddy. :-)

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] njc2007! I'm glad you think so! :-) Poor Archer had been without a beagle for much too long, so Aramis was a very welcome addition to my twisted action figure menagerie. *g*

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lazigyrl. It is nice to see Archer with a beagle again. And, no, you probably don't want to mention why Mr. Scott went to all that trouble to return Aramis to his rightful owner. *g*

*hangs head in shame* should've picked that up - was recently watching the 2009 film for the first time.

Think I got a bit dazzled by seeing Eric Bana, Karl Urban and Zachary Quinto all in the same film

No, don't feel ashamed! The reference was really quick, and I'm sure there were probably some Enterprise fans who missed it. Besides, it's understandable that you missed it considering the impact of Eric Bana, Karl Urban and Zachary Quinto all in the same film. *g*

This is too too adorable! Oh my god Aramis peaking over the box and arms of joy! I'm so glad Archer gets a happy ending.

I also love dubghall's image of Reed in the Santa hat and the pics from the post office from The Voyage Home. Taking photographs during the holiday season at the Post Office—now that takes dedication!

Dedication and bravery! I've never taken any action figure photos in a public place, so huge kudos to [livejournal.com profile] dubghall for having the guts to do that! :-D
