I've been spending the morning catching up on vids and photos that have been recently posted on my flist. In fact, I spent over 20 minutes at

I'm still on a massive Pirates of the Caribbean kick. I'm about a fifth of the way through Hippediva's Pirate Vindaloo: A Sparrington Novel and lovin' it so far. I'm about 95% sure that I started reading it before, but I'm not sure why I didn't finish it. Maybe it was a WIP at the time, and I just lost track of it. It is a little long at over 180,000 words...
I did manage to read some Sherlock fic early this morning when I had a tiny bout of insomnia due to a leg cramp. shirleyholmes' Child's Play made me forget all about it. :-)
Okay, I'd better try to do something a bit more productive, like taking a shower and hitting the bank. I think I'll wait until tomorrow (when it's supposed to be cooler) to haul groceries around. One of these days, I will write a post that isn't just vids or fic recs. This just isn't that day. *g*

We have to remember that reading and sharing good reads is always productive!
I read Child's Play - it makes one smile :oD
Aaargh! Waking up with a leg cramp is so painful.

Date: 2013-07-21 02:29 pm (UTC)Oh, good! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! :-) Yes, I thought it was wonderful that Peter Jackson was asking the questions because a) he's a director himself, b) he's a geek who understands and loves many of the same film references as Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg and c) I'm pretty sure he's friends with all of them. To be honest, I don't know if The World's End would be your kind of film. It will probably be much like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz if you've seen either of them. I really like Shaun of the Dead, but I LOVE Hot Fuzz -- probably because it's a parody of a British cozy, which is closer to my heart than zombie films. Not that I have anything against zombie films. I'm just more into mystery than horror.
The messages from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were great fun. Thanks for posting the links.
It's great that you got a kick out of both of their messages. I found Benedict Cumberbatch's attempt to explain how Sherlock survived the fall particularly funny. In any case, I was more than happy to post both links. :-)

I'm pretty sure she hasn't. Actually, I'm pretty sure Amazon wouldn't accept it because it's slash. At least, I don't think they were accepting slash last I heard. It is really mind-blowing to think of anyone writing such a long fic novel. And I think she did it in an incredibly short time. A project like that would probably take me at least 10 years, though I am the slowest writer on the planet. I haven't even managed to squeeze out 10,000 words for my original fiction project, though I'm close. *g*

I'm very happy you think so! If you find even a couple of entertaining stories then it definitely is productive! :-D

It was a bit on the fluffy side, but I found it genuinely funny. Worth it for Lestrade's daughter and Sherlock alone, though poor Lestrade's reactions to the whole situation were priceless. *g*

Well..."leg cramp" isn't entirely accurate. It was my knee. Of course, that's part of my leg, so I guess it still counts. I have really crappy circulation, so one or both knees seem to act up if my legs get too cold or too hot...And that is truly TMI! *g*

Date: 2013-07-24 07:29 pm (UTC)Oh, awesome! It's great that you're a fan of both films, though we obviously agree that Hot Fuzz is our favourite of the two. :-D Anywaaaaaaay, I'm guessing that you're looking forward to The World's End as much as I am!

That's very kind of you! Thank you muchly! :-D I can't help feeling that I should be further along. However, I keep going back to rewrite and/or revise scenes. I've also been job searching, which takes away some of my free time. And, yes, original fiction is a helluva lot harder than fan fiction! I mean, you're starting completely from scratch in original fiction. In fan fiction, the characters, settings, etc. have already been established. I'm actually still trying to get to know my characters and I'm learning interesting things about them as I go along. *g*

Good luck with your job hunting!

Date: 2013-07-28 04:30 am (UTC)I just watched a trailer I hadn't seen before on YouTube. It makes me want to see the film even more:

Well, I always thought you did an excellent job of keeping characters true to themselves, so your struggle didn't show in your work. :-) And I don't know if my original characters are going to be anything to write home about. I still feel like I have a lot of work to do with them.
Good luck with your job hunting!
Thank you very much! :-) It's a slow process, but I'm getting a bit done every week. I'm just trying to stay positive and focused.
