I tried to resist posting more fic recs, but I just discovered two fabulous Skyfall stories that I have to share. In fact, they're the Bond/Mallory stories I've been wanting since I first saw the movie! They are thegrumblingirl's They Say He's a Wild One and Rhuia's Resonance.

In case anyone suspects that I've spent all my free time reading fic, I can assure you that I haven't. I've also been sitting inside dark movie theatres as well. Every month, the Yonge/Dundas Cineplex screens classic films. They got me in July with To Catch a Thief and The Manchurian Candidate. While I thoroughly enjoyed To Catch a Thief, I was blown away by The Manchurian Candidate. OH. MY. GOD.. If you get the chance to see it on the big screen, go, though I highly recommend it whatever the format. Just make sure you see the original and not the shitty remake. This trailer doesn't do the film justice, but it was the best one I could find on YouTube:

Speaking of films, I finally caved and bought Shaun of the Dead. I really don't know why I didn't buy it sooner -- other than the fact that I like Hot Fuzz better. However, I've had this irresistible urge to watch the first two-thirds of the Cornetto Trilogy before seeing The World's End.

I was able to find Shaun of the Dead at my local BMV for $5.99, which is pretty awesome. I think I've only seen it once, and that was shortly after Hot Fuzz came out. It's definitely been way too long. I'm really looking forward to rewatching it tonight.

Oh, isn't To Catch A Thief a Hitchcock, with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly? I'd love to see that, on big or small screen. I love Grace Kelly. I try to watch the classics but they're rarely on TV at a convienent time.

Glad you got to see Shaun Of The Dead, I saw that at university. Hot Fuzz is great too - I've read some great fics. I'd love to see World's End, I was hoping to take Anthony last week, but the whole tooth-extraction put the lid on that :(

Yes, To Catch A Thief is a Hitchcock film with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. In fact, it was Grace Kelly's final film before she became Princess Grace of Monaco. Anywaaaaaay, I think you'd definitely enjoy it. It's got a great mix of everything: adventure, romance, mystery and comedy. Hell, it's worth it for the gorgeous scenery alone. :-)

Yeah, I know what you mean. There's a channel that basically specializes in classic films, but I often forget about it or tune in when it's something I'm not interested in. Saying that, I have managed to catch some gems on that channel. I just need to make more of an effort to check the schedule.

Well, I had seen Shaun of the Dead the one time. I rented the DVD right after seeing Hot Fuzz on the big screen. It's nice to actually own the DVD now. :-)

Strangetly enough, I haven't tried to search out Hot Fuzz fic, though I did come across this great Spaced podfic not that long ago.

I'd love to see World's End, I was hoping to take Anthony last week, but the whole tooth-extraction put the lid on that :(

I hope you guys get to see it soon. It's not hitting theatres here until the end of the month.

Oooh, I feel the need to share with you my favourite Spaced. It's called 'Harry Potter And The Reluctant Fanboy' and it's Tim/Daisy and it's adorable, hope you like it: http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/40/harrypotter.html

I'm quite proud of the fact that Spaced is one of the TV shows that I introduced Anthony to, yay for gaining that wonderful show more fans :) Such a warm fuzzy show, it's like a big geeky hug.

Ooooooh! Thank you! I'm looking forward to reading that! :-D

It's great that you introduced Anthony to Spaced! That's truly a worthy accomplishment! :-D I'd been debating whether to get Spaced and a co-worker (and fellow geek) convinced me it was worth it. However, the price was still pretty high at the time, so I waited until it dropped and then asked for it for Christmas. I quickly worked my way through not only the episodes but all the commentaries and other special features. I've been tempted to rewatch it, but I'm going to wait until I've seen The World's End because I have a feeling I'll really be craving more Pegg/Wright/Frost after that. *g*
