I'm delighted to say that I've donated an SGA fic (gen or slash, any character, minimum of 2500-3000 words) to the MSF/DWB David Hewlett Birthday Auction! For those of you who don't know, this auction was started when David Hewlett asked fans to donate money to Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders rather than give him birthday presents. Ergo, a fan had the brilliant idea of organizing a charity auction to do just that. The first auction was in 2007 and over £1000 was raised. Last year, the total was an impressive £2316.67! Naturally, this year, it would be awesome if even more money was raised for this terrific cause.

For the current list of items available for auction (including my own contribution) go here. There's also still plenty of time to donate items if you're interested. You can learn more about the donating and bidding process at this handy link. Lastly, as if all this wasn't enough, there's even an LJ community now ([livejournal.com profile] msfauction).

I know many of you are probably being a lot more careful with your money given these difficult economic times. However, the starting bid for most items will be £2, which is pretty reasonable if you think about it. Last year, I was able to win an Enola Jones fic for £6.

Congrats! I won't be bidding for anything (right cause, wrong fandom - sorry!) but I keep my fingers crossed that your story will get a satisfying result!

I understand, though not all the items in the auction are David Hewlett or SGA-related. I'll give you a heads up if I see anything you might be interested in, though crossed fingers are definitely appreciated as well. :-) To be honest, I have this fear that no one is going to want my story and I'll have to pay someone to bid on it! *g*

I think that's very cool. I tried to bid, but it doesn't appear that they are accepting them yet. Sigh. But, I wants it precioussssss.

Yikes! Please tell me you're not still at work! :-(

It's so sweet of you to try to bid for my story. Unfortunately, bidding doesn't start until March 14th. I'll try to remember to give you a heads up, though please don't feel as if you have to bid for my story. It looks like there will be lots and lots of items to choose from, so it's okay if you decide to spend your money on something else. Really. :-)
