MSF/DWB David Hewlett Birthday Auction
Feb. 15th, 2009 02:45 pmI'm delighted to say that I've donated an SGA fic (gen or slash, any character, minimum of 2500-3000 words) to the MSF/DWB David Hewlett Birthday Auction! For those of you who don't know, this auction was started when David Hewlett asked fans to donate money to Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders rather than give him birthday presents. Ergo, a fan had the brilliant idea of organizing a charity auction to do just that. The first auction was in 2007 and over £1000 was raised. Last year, the total was an impressive £2316.67! Naturally, this year, it would be awesome if even more money was raised for this terrific cause.
For the current list of items available for auction (including my own contribution) go here. There's also still plenty of time to donate items if you're interested. You can learn more about the donating and bidding process at this handy link. Lastly, as if all this wasn't enough, there's even an LJ community now (
I know many of you are probably being a lot more careful with your money given these difficult economic times. However, the starting bid for most items will be £2, which is pretty reasonable if you think about it. Last year, I was able to win an Enola Jones fic for £6.
