Woo hoo! The story I bid on (and won) at the David Hewlett MSF/DWB Birthday Auction, benefitting Doctors Without Borders has been posted! [livejournal.com profile] lilyleia78 took my rather flimsy idea and wrote Dogged, a sweet and humourous McShep story! If you're a fan of McShep, please check it out!

In other news, I'm happy to say that I've been exonerated. It wasn't my fault that I kept blowing fuses. My dad checked the light fixture in my kitchen this afternoon and discovered faulty wiring...or something like that. I know it involved wiring anyway because he unscrewed the entire fixture and pulled out a scary looking wire that had turned green and black. Herne only knows when the light fixture was originally installed. I have a feeling it was before I was born...In any case, my dad agrees that it wasn't my fault that I managed to blow the fuses in my apartment on multiple occasions. He confirmed that I did screw the lightbulb in properly and that I'm not a total idiot. Well...his opinion might have changed when he gave me some fuses he brought specifically for my stove, and I expressed surprise and wonder because I hadn't realized the stove had any. *g*

Man, I'm tired. I spent most of the day (when I wasn't learning about fuses) moving the remaining files for one of my websites from Tripod to a new web host. Unfortunately, I still have to move most of the files for my other site, but I can't think about that right now or else I'll burst into tears. Websites. They're so much fun.

Yipes! That faulty wiring is scary! Of course I have a fear of bad wiring in general and the house burning down as a result of it! O_O Glad you discovered it and got it fixed.

*hugs you* Please don't cry! I can commiserate about websites being a pain in the butt. I still have to add my new Nasir mood theme to mine but have been putting it off because I don't feel like dealing with it right now! :P

Yeah, it is pretty scary when you think about it. I mean, I had been avoiding using that particular light, but still...I have to fill in a work order and get my super to look at it some time. However, at the moment, the entire fixture has been taken down from the ceiling.

No worries. I'm okay now. I was just really tired last night. I had to deal with almost 600 files in total for the Archive (http://rosfic.t35.com/index.html), though the process was spread over a couple of days, thankfully. Anywaaaay, I'll be okay with the second move.

I don't blame you for not wanting to deal with adding your new Nasir mood theme to your website right now. I'm guessing that will be quite the undertaking!

Installing a mood theme is a piece of cake though! :S It's uploading it that's such a pain

Oh yeah, totally agree! If only uploading a mood theme to a website was as easy as installing one! I'll probably end up cheating though and just linking to my LJ. xP

Hey... you earned yourself an award for sticking as long with tripod as you did. *g* If you need a hand, just let me know and I'll try and help if I can. :)

LOL! Yeah, I probably would have moved from Tripod sooner if I wasn't so lazy. In fact, the only reason I'm moving now is because I won't be able to continue updating my sites unless I buy a pro account. Now, while it probably wouldn't be as big a deal with NASTY Knight, I think writers and readers won't be too happy if I stop updating the fic archive! *g*

Hi again. I forgot to mention this in my last comment (I'm going to blame lack of sleep), but thanks for the offer of help. :-) I think I've got the second move covered, but I'll let you know if I could use some assistance.

So, you don't have the power of lightning? It's good to know that you're not a total idiot, of course, but the power of lightning would be cool.

I think it was about this time last year that AOL announced they were shutting down all their webpages. I did my best to save all my files (they were constantly overloaded), but I still haven't gotten the energy to re-create them somewhere else. *sigh*

Yeah, that's the downside of not being a total idiot. I kind of liked having the power of lightning too. Well, I'm sure at some point I'll discover some new destructive power, which may or may not involve electricity. *g*

I still think it sucks that AOL shut down all of its webpages. At least Tripod hasn't shut down or deleted anything -- you just can't add new sections to your website without paying. *g* Anywaaaaay, I hear you about not having the energy to re-create your website somewhere else. I think moving the archive (http://rosfic.t35.com/index.html) just about did me in. I'm making much slower progress moving the Gisburne site. It probably doesn't help that I keep finding dead links that need to be updated...

If you do decide to set up your website again, you might want to try http://www.t35.com (http://www.t35.com). Not only do they provide free accounts, but you have unlimited space because of the ads (that are very subtle, especially compared to those Tripod monstrosities) that appear at the bottom of each page. In any case, I've been very impressed with http://www.t35.com (http://www.t35.com) and think it's a definite improvement over Tripod.
