Labour Day Treat! :-)
Sep. 7th, 2009 11:28 pmWoo hoo! The story I bid on (and won) at the David Hewlett MSF/DWB Birthday Auction, benefitting Doctors Without Borders has been posted!
In other news, I'm happy to say that I've been exonerated. It wasn't my fault that I kept blowing fuses. My dad checked the light fixture in my kitchen this afternoon and discovered faulty wiring...or something like that. I know it involved wiring anyway because he unscrewed the entire fixture and pulled out a scary looking wire that had turned green and black. Herne only knows when the light fixture was originally installed. I have a feeling it was before I was born...In any case, my dad agrees that it wasn't my fault that I managed to blow the fuses in my apartment on multiple occasions. He confirmed that I did screw the lightbulb in properly and that I'm not a total idiot. Well...his opinion might have changed when he gave me some fuses he brought specifically for my stove, and I expressed surprise and wonder because I hadn't realized the stove had any. *g*
Man, I'm tired. I spent most of the day (when I wasn't learning about fuses) moving the remaining files for one of my websites from Tripod to a new web host. Unfortunately, I still have to move most of the files for my other site, but I can't think about that right now or else I'll burst into tears. Websites. They're so much fun.

Date: 2009-09-10 03:28 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's the downside of not being a total idiot. I kind of liked having the power of lightning too. Well, I'm sure at some point I'll discover some new destructive power, which may or may not involve electricity. *g*
I think it was about this time last year that AOL announced they were shutting down all their webpages. I did my best to save all my files (they were constantly overloaded), but I still haven't gotten the energy to re-create them somewhere else. *sigh*
I still think it sucks that AOL shut down all of its webpages. At least Tripod hasn't shut down or deleted anything -- you just can't add new sections to your website without paying. *g* Anywaaaaay, I hear you about not having the energy to re-create your website somewhere else. I think moving the archive (http://rosfic.t35.com/index.html) just about did me in. I'm making much slower progress moving the Gisburne site. It probably doesn't help that I keep finding dead links that need to be updated...
If you do decide to set up your website again, you might want to try http://www.t35.com (http://www.t35.com). Not only do they provide free accounts, but you have unlimited space because of the ads (that are very subtle, especially compared to those Tripod monstrosities) that appear at the bottom of each page. In any case, I've been very impressed with http://www.t35.com (http://www.t35.com) and think it's a definite improvement over Tripod.
